Last night, I went to the movies with some friends. I bought some hot chips with gravy and took it in to the cinemas with me. Later on, I came out with about two table spoons worth of gravy on my clothes.

The fact is, even if I wasn't in a dark place distracted by a movie, I would have still ended up with about two table spoons worth of gravy on my clothes.

You just can't take me anywhere. This is also why I never wear white when I know I'm going to be out eating.

Just so we Americans are clear about hot chips and gravy, are these what you brought into the theater?

Well it seems to me according to all the stuff I've read on this forum over the years, the most popular advice to finding a good christian mate is to....

step 1. wait and pray

step 2. wait and pray some more

step 3. be happy being single (while waiting and praying)

step 4 (optional). buy a cat or a dog

step 5. accept your singleness as a gift (lucky you!)

step 6. accept the fact that you were probably chosen by God to be single for the rest of your life

step 7. rinse and repeat...

Do you have better advice, ZeroTurbulence?

And then we wonder why we're all still single or think it is God's fault.

So there's this old joke about a guy asking God what a million years was to Him. God answered "Seems like just a second". The man asked Him what a million dollars was to Him. God answered "A mere penny". The man then asked God if He'd give him a million dollars and God said "Sure I will. Wait just a second".

The point of this is maybe asking what we're waiting on? Like it or not, we, as stewards of the Christian faith, are going to be judged on our actions, 2 Corinthians 5:10. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. If God truly is our boss, how would it be if we stood before Him when He asked "Why did you never marry? I think it would have made you happy" and we answer Him by saying "I was waiting on You to choose someone for me". Why, He would ask? He makes no such promise. Matter of fact, there's really only one guy that just woke up and found a woman and that was Adam. There's really only one criteria we are to meet and that was that we marry a fellow believer, 2 Corinthians 6:14. As a matter of fact, we can even marry across a whole host of ministries because they will all be in one Spirit - 1 Corinthians 12:4,5,6.

I get frustrated at the never ending barrage of people thinking that Our One is someone God has on ... what? On layaway somewhere? Consignment? That He parses them out like so many playing cards? He DOESN'T. He makes so such promise. He leads and directs us but we have to be going somewhere in order to need the direction. In other words, "waiting" is on you. Inaction IS an action.

My list -
1. Look for a mate
2. Know what you want
3. Trust God to guide you
D. Know that marriage has no significance in heaven.

My brother, you would make a terrible Mormon.

Otherwise, an excellent post. :)

I've just plugged my MP3 Player in to charge before I leave. I'm heading to this beautiful new-ish park about 15 minutes drive away. It is one of my favourite places, period.

I have a 'spot' which is towards the back of the park, a hundred metres off the path, behind the lake. I've been yearning to go there again lately like I used to. This time I have unpackaged a beautiful sketch book my cousin bought me for Christmas, and have unearthed my old artist pencils from the forgotten places of my bedroom, pencils that have been abandoned for years.

It's time to draw again. I've been scared to, I can't explain this feeling I have, but its kind of like that moment when the roller coaster ride starts moving. Fear and excitement.

It is the same feeling I faced with my violin playing. With drawing, with writing, with music, I reveal my heart. I have been so scared of the possibilities of the things it yearns to say.

But... here's to trusting, to knowing, to believing, I truly have a new heart.

Yes! Why... what else could it be? And what do you guys call them? I understand you call them 'fries'... don't you guys call them chips, too?
Yes, french fries. Although, the specific preparation you describe is a Canadian dish called poutine that is considered somewhat exotic to Americans. If I go to any restaurant that has it on the menu (which is rare, being as far away from Canada as I am), I order it without hesitation. It's really the cheese curds that put it over the top.

Double rainbow with lightning striking around and through it. And an awesome lightning show afterwards. Yeah tonight was a decent evening to sit on my balcony and enjoy the onset of storm season.

(Wish I could have gotten a picture of lightning cutting through the rainbow, but that's like a one in several billion lucky shot)

Which is precisely why you should have taken a picture. :p
