Sorry Cali, I like a lot of your posts, but I'm going to have to disagree with this one.
All of the members of my family who have been successful did so not because of having wealth or even a higher education, but because they stuck around and did all the things that other people didn't want to do.
I remember one place I worked at in which we were all expected to take turns cleaning the restrooms--even the managers--and there was this one guy in his 50's who thought he was too good to do such a menial chore. One night when it was his turn to take on the task, he absolutely refused to do it--even though the only other person working that night was a young woman--WHO WAS PREGNANT.
This guy had so much pride that he would rather see a young mother-to-be risk her health and that of her baby rather than man up and do what needed to be done.
I was pretty livid over that one, and even though the task wasn't done after closing when it was supposed to, I just went ahead and did the cleaning myself before I left so that she wouldn't have to.
Needless to say, the 50-something-year-old guy eventually got fired... because apparently, he thought he was too good to do anything.
Oh rats... Am I supposed to be flirting? Sorry. I get easily distracted.
