and also going shopping also means you have your budget in mind and I dont know about you but I wont buy something thats overpriced, or just cos its there I will look for quality but I dont look for people as commodities, I shop on needs rather than wants.
I suppose if Im on someones list then am I warehouse bargain basement or boutique store or only available online? Might as well just put a listing on mail order catalogue and I cant bring myself to do that...but I suppose if you want to sell yourself, you would.

I was talking to some friends earlier today about my pickiness when it comes to relationships. Not that I have very many to begin with haha.
But I realized that with age I get pickier and pickier.
I think it's just that I've seen more of the world and the way people are. So I can tell when a guy is lying, when he's only after one thing and when I wouldn't be a good match with him. Red pill guys would say this is a bad thing because I'm about to hit the wall and now I'm much more picky than I was at 20. But the way I see it is...I would rather be alone than struggling with a partner that wasn't going to be easy to deal with.

Is this the case with you too? Have you become pickier or more lenient with age?
Maybe this word we call pickiness is really just discernment? I feel like the Holy Spirit is with me on it.:giggle:(y)
Pickier, in some ways, yes. In other ways, not so much!!

Time has humbled me greatly, thanks be to the Lord. I know my imperfections and flaws and am aware that we all have them. I have come to realize controlling the outcomes and others is futile and takes away from managing my own growth and gratitude.

I think time has made me less picky about so many things, but when it comes to what I will accept or not accept in the way of equally yoked, I will not compromise in this arena.

Another great thread LM...:D!!!

Sometimes the easiest way to understand a concept is to apply it in a different context. If you finish at the top of your class with excellent grades, internships, and extra curricular activities. Are you accepting the first employment offer given? Or do you have a benchmark that’s more in line with your worth? If the market says $150K, you aren’t taking a $30K hit unless the comps are worth the reduction. For most, that’s a startup with stock options and other perks. This doesn’t apply to non-profit work.

You get your money’s worth in a store, when bargaining for a salary, and looking for a partner. And the latter is the person whose character, faith, interests, and other preferences complement your own. Some are more accommodating than others.

For me: divorce, children, criminal backgrounds, addictions, and excessive debt are non negotiable. Everyone has a different tipping point and needs to satisfy. You have to be honest with yourself.

A lifetime is a long time with the wrong person.

I asked a christian couple how they found each other and they said both of them actually had a list, and said it was like going shopping.

I was disheartened because while I do sometimes have a list while I go shopping and it helps, cos I know what to look for, I dont really want to be a 'tick all the boxes' type person. If someone said to me well you ticked all my boxes so you are exactly what I was looking for, I would just go huh?

I guess I would then question what criteria they were using to find me. was it because of my looks? My size? My brilliant way with words? lol
well people will just end up disappointing themselves with their list, and hurting the ones that dont meet the subjective criteria they could never objectively pass.
