to be perfectly clear, my "like" was for catherder and the sign, as i'm not sure how i feel about acknowledging the vulgarity of co-ed alimentary supplementation.

however, i will point out the fact that it's taking every fiber of my being to not photo shop that picture of you guys into something a bit more amusing. ; p

p.s. as to the sign: i only need the right boots, several hours of sleep, my smart phone, my bible app, a giant mason jar of tea, lipbalm, a large bottle of extra strength tylenol and chopsticks for my hair. i'll provide the soundtrack. ; p

We missed you Reece! We are (most of us) all back home now. :( Would have been great if you could have made it. Our next meet-up - California! I don't know how. I don't know when. But it's gonna happen!
I still say Colorado is a fantastic central location for a meet up... :p

No to Colorado! Yes to California! We have beaches, we have droughts, we have mountains! California HAS ME!! PLEASE come to California!

Heh heh heh.

Well, if it's any consolation... ;) I take a protein supplement as well, along with a calcium supplement, omega-3 supplement, vitamin supplement... So this is just another supplement that I take and I didn't see it as any big deal. The main reason I take it is to help balance out my blood sugar levels. For instance, if I'm going to have cookies or something sugary, I'll take the fiber right beforehand to slow down the absorption of sugar into my system and prevent a big crash. It may sound pseudo-scientific but it seems to work for me.

I realize it is usually taken for other reasons as well, but it doesn't have to be traumatizing or horrifying. :)

My Mom likes to tease me that no one under 70 (and even my own grandparent, who is many, many years past 70) takes this said supplement... Which is why I was thrilled to find someone else around my age who also includes it in a daily regimen and has declared in his profile that we are "fiber buddies". :)

Plus, I just thought it was a cute picture, as I'm known for taking and posing for comical pics. ;) (My parents thought it was great!) :)

Holy Crud!

Aimee just totally won me over with that picture of the burger and fries.

I might need an extra jar of fiber.

Just to clear up any misunderstandings...

...while I can appreciate all the sentiment of, "Well, why don't you do a meetup where I'm at?!" I should point out to you that of all the attendees to the meetup, only ONE was a resident of the DFW area. DFW was selected specifically because 1) it's central location from an east-to-west standpoint and 2) because it is a major airline hub, meaning that it would be possible for those flying to fly direct from their local hubs with no or few connections. CatHerder flew in from CA, Seoul flew in from AZ, and originally there was to be another person flying from CA, another from the Pacific Northwest, another from Colorado, and another from Ohio. I drove for 9 hours, and Gracie drove for 3 hours. The ONLY one who was local was Misty77, and again, we did not select DFW as a convenience to her; it was central. Yes, Colorado and Tennessee are semi-central, but Colorado is less central to someone in Florida versus someone in Washington, and Tennessee is less central to someone in Oregon versus someone in Pennsylvania. While DFW does sway south, there's really no other major cities with "things to do" AND also a major airline hub right along that central point. (Come on, you're telling me you're all dying to visit downtown Tulsa? :p )

Believe me when I say that I would have been overjoyed to have a meetup in the Las Cruces/El Paso area, but the reality was we needed to meet someplace EQUALLY inconvenient for everyone. ^_^ Misty77 just lucked out.

If there are any feelings of exclusion, please also understand that this meetup discussion started in and was carried out in the chatroom, not on the forums. It wasn't done that way to exclude anyone, it's just that we always ended up discussing it as such.

Hope that clears things up as to the how and why.

For the record, I would love for y'all to come to California, as you can see from my previous post. However, if I had the money, I would gladly fly or drive to wherever y'all were meeting up. I liked Texas, and I would love to see Louisiana (I can't go into NOLA, though), Tennessee, and the surrounding area. Love ya guys. :)

Wow, so much I want to say here!

ViolaKat, I don't know if this helps or not, but the only reason I knew about the meet-up was from snooping profiles and seeing the chat group "Singles meetup in Dallas" on a few of them. I assumed that the reason they didn't post about it was due to not wanting a crazy who saw it in the forums to sign up and see where the meet-up was, and go and obsess over one of the members. One of the members who almost attended the meet-up had a stalker from this site a year or so ago (as in, she had to get the police involved). I wonder if there's a good way to let everyone know about the next one w/o PM'ing everyone who's a regular and not creepy.

Kim, I do the same thing except w/ fat (I eat something fattening before sweets so the sugar won't be absorbed too fast). Also, you MUST be pretty, because I look like a combination of you and Angie, and I'm gorgeous :D! JK. Or not. One will have to see me to decide for him or herself. But yeah, it always surprises me who thinks that she herself isn't pretty, despite being very much so, especially for a gal in her forties; you seriously look much younger. Hmm, probably another reason I look like you and Angie. And Cristen and Gypsy, actually :).

It's not about the pencil stabbing... but it is about my past. You're a smart woman. I'm sure you can figure it out. :p

I love pistachio pudding! I make pistachio cupcakes too.

Just so everyone knows, I'm not mad about not being told. I was teasing Seoul, as I thought she knew that I lived in TX, although I haven't mentioned it to her in years, and well, she probably I did move to ND, since I nearly did. But I digress. Anyway, I really was only teasing her.

Kim... don't make me come shake some sense into you. You are so extremely pretty it hurts me. Lol the other ladies are beautiful as well, but you don't give yourself enough credit sister.

P.s. so as to not offend the brethren present I'd like to add that Shour and Steve looked pretty too. :p Please forgive me if I've missed anyone.

Now, don't any of you let Seoul fool you. She's gorgeous, as anyone can see by looking at these photos, and she has the most generous and loving heart which is her strongest feature.

The cool thing about meeting in person, especially on a visit-binge like this where you are together 24/7, is that it doesn't take long before you don't care anymore. You don't care if you have make-up on, or your hair is combed, or if your clothes actually match. Hahaha. It's a good feeling. Until you see pictures later of course.

One more thing, wanting to give credit where credit is due (and waiting to have permission to mention this), the endless supply of Wookie Cookies (straight out of the Star Wars cookbook) were provided by ntw1103.

And yes, he is stunningly good-looking in person as well. I have a thing for eyes, and ntw has beautiful eyes, as well as a very calm, sincere manner, amazingly rock-solid faith in Jesus, and, most notably of all in the time that we were together, crazy mad baking skills!!! We polished off a bag of cookies in mere minutes, and ntw calmly replied, "I have another one in the car!" How could we not love him!!

As mentioned before, I also took a bag of his Wookie Cookies home with me through the long journey home (though in truth, I think Shour--driving 9 hours each way--probably had it the toughest) and those cookies really saved the day!!!

Jilly is absolutely right though--it's tricky to put together a gathering for a group of people that doesn't make some feel excluded but also makes it SAFE for everyone (due to stalkers and all the reasons she listed), which is why we had talked about it only in our regular nightly chat group that was meeting every night.

I also know that if I helped set up any future meetups, I would require a non-refundable deposit, which I know some people would balk at, but it would definitely show a commitment. The reason for this is because, let's say that I reserved a place for us to stay and 8 people said they would be staying 3 nights, so I make the non-refundable deposit on the place and any payments that were required, but at the last minute, 3 people cancel or have committed to 3 nights (which we pay for in advance) and then say they can only stay for 1 (and try to pay for only 1 night when they originally said they would pay for 3). In any group meeting, this is almost guaranteed to happen, and no one wants (or can afford) to get stuck paying the rest of the bill, along with things like money for gas, transportation, and food.

Ah, money. Unfortunately, it's the thing that can make or break friendships. Fortunately, we had a great group who were all willing do do their part when it came to money, time, cooking, and even cleaning, which can be very tricky to balance.
