The fear of pain exceeds the roulette wheel of pleasure....

Meaning
The chances of engaging in a toxic and life destroying relationship is exponentially higher than getting a storybook wonderful life.

At best....you get nice feelings for a while followed by horrible feelings.

Guys value stability and see no need to engage in risky behavior.
This is true, but it applies to females as well.

Last Summer a well-meaning guyfriend was trying to help me find someone. He suggested I join a dating site and go out with 3 guys a week until I find a good match. I stared at him in slight shock before asking if he wanted to make bets on how many weeks I'd go before picking up a stalker. 😵

1 Corinthians 15 verse 58 ~ Be steadfast and immovable. Always excel in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. :)

Speaking of obsessions, I just watched a video, King James & the Witches of Scotland. Therein is a claim that he, James, "was obsessed, and particularly with the doctrine of the divine right of kings..." and, suspecting that this particular idea is at the root of this issue with 'independent' women I coincidentally happened upon a synopsis from Study.com >...> Civic Education's Sovereignty | Definitions & Types - Lesson which writes, "To state if briefly, sovereignty is the concept for the highest, independent power in a given territory."

...and @DeanM's input which teetered on the thin line between comedic genius and tragedic farts (I mean farse :sneaky:) offers some insights along with some of the outsmells that have manage to foul the winds that continued to keep this indistinguishable flame stoked for centuries.

Hi Canadian! Yeah, that's definitely a valid point that Prov.31 wasn't acting independently of her husband and family in the provision sense.... like, no he wasn't micro-managing her; she ran her own business and even appraised and purchased land. But with the proceeds of her labor she took care of her family and even those who worked for her. She was definitely thinking of others first, not trying to have her own thing going so she could keep the profits herself. Valid point for sure!

As a side note, your grandma sounds like a very cool lady! 😎
Hi Snackersmom, Thanks
I think she was able to make decisions independently based on what her husband wanted. personally the way it is written, I think it's implied to women in general married or unmarried. If she was married she was the ideal godly and virtuous woman every man should stride to have as his wife, and if she wasn't than she was the pattern of virtue to look for in a good wife.

My Grandma was a great lady, I imagine she is cold as ice now, she passed away about 5 - 10 years ago. it was before i left my home town in 2016. But she lived to be in her 90's so she had a good life.

Is a sense of humor a gift of the Spirit?

Is a sense of humor a gift of the Spirit?
I know it is greatly appreciated. That is, if it is "gotten'. It is my opinion that one who is proficient in humor must have achieved a certain level of, if not gifted with, intelligence. And the part that I'm not 100percent sure of but highly suspect, is that men (including the feminine he) are gifted with an intelligence that cannot be categorized in the 'natural' sense.

There are some people that I have to be delicate in my approach to picking on them, but it isn't impossible even as they make it so easy.
The ones that 'get it,' though, only get it more frequently. :sneaky:

Did she just call me a big mouth? I think she did.
She definitely did. I’m apologizing in advance, or would it be belated, since I’m late to the party?

Edit: I forgot to mention why I was apologizing.

Edit editing the edit: I didn’t forget. I don’t know.

Uh…🤷‍♀️
