I guess that there always will be some difficult moments, even if you get to know the perfect person for you, that one that we say is the chosen by God for us. Problems and trouble are the usual this live. That is a risk that some of us are willing to take. You are right, living alone without anyone bothering you all the days is, of course a kind of a perfect life but sometimes, some of us want something more. Regards :):)
Hi Nicolas,

There are many people here who have always felt like they were meant to have families, but for some reason, it hasn't worked out. Many still hang on to that hope, so you're definitely not alone.

We have a lot of talks here about living out life, still trying to do God's will, and maybe even still finding marriage and a family (for us older singles.)

I hope you'll join in here and feel free to share your feelings in any of the discussions that catch your interest. :)

In many Christian circles it is seen as sad if you are in your late 20s, 30s or older and "still single". I personally know that everyones journey with God is a unique one and there are so many factors that come into play in terms of why someone is single, so I'm content in my singlehood (not that I don't wish for a partnership, though). What are your thoughts?
I personally don’t think there is anything wrong with it (especially since Covid). I don’t think you can ever be too old, just as long as you keep God first, that’s all that really matters nowadays. He knows us, our hearts, our minds better than we ever could. He calls some to stay single and directs the right person to others. Once you’ve really formed an unbreakable relationship with God, you’ll figure out which is you. When you can honestly ask yourself “Will I be able to keep God first at all times and love my partner as unconditionally as God loves me?” And the answer is yes… Perhaps that’s God telling you something. That’s what I think anyways, I hope this helps!

There is a no doubt a lot of stigma against singles and especially celibates, and it is not just from Christians. Awhile ago, I was reading a book which said that all humans are sexual beings, even babies exhibit sexual behavior (thumb sucking, breastfeeding, etc.) according to prominent psychologists such as Freud. So, these views feed into the thought that there is something wrong with being single/celibate/not in a rush to get married. There are some Christians who believe it is unnatural to be single, and I believe they are buying into Freudian thought.

One reason I enjoy watching Catholic channels on YouTube is because singles are viewed in higher regard in my opinion and they better highlight the virtues of singleness, and the messages are more on point for singles. For instance, a single may find she has more in common with a priest/nun than a married person. I once compared videos on loneliness and the messages were quite different.

I like my single life, and though I like solitude, I also like having people around. That is one of the drawbacks of being single, as we have to make extra effort to meet people. There are families who don't really hang out with people outside the family. I am sure I would be happy in a solid/happy marriage too.

Hmmm , I don't know If I should chime in on this or not. I 'm not in a Christian circle here where I live and I don't know if I will be. Not that I don't want to be but I have some crazy health issues that hold me back. My eyes went berzerk some years back and then lost 7 family members in 2 years. It's been hard . It's hard for me to meet people because I really can't read people like I used to. The kind of people that come in say they want to help but really they just want to use me. Frankly I don't need their help God has me. I always thought that even before I surrendered 3 month ago. As long as I can eat and be at peace I'm ok but it would be nice to meet a real person who has their heart in the right place.I don;t need charity If that never happens then I know that I will be seeing my family again someday.

I just realized I seem to repeat myself a bit in my reply to you... lol... I must sound a bit like a parrot!

Please let me apologize -- it's been a long day and my brain is scrambling up thoughts and putting them on a continuous loop in an effort to try to conserve energy... :giggle:

We really do hope to see you around the forum so we can better get to know you and, if you still dare, will get to know us. :)

(Most people who post here are a lot better-spoken than what I've managed to do here, I promise!)

I promise I'm an actual real person and not just a parrot pecking away at a keyboard. :D

You are very welcome for the reply and am looking forward to seeing you around in the forums! :)

Although there may at times be an owl pecking away at the keyboard. Probably Holla. Sometimes Hoot. Occasionally BB shows up in her posts.

"Say, where's Winston in her posts?"

He shows up in her grocery shopping. Where do you THINK that bag of m&ms came from?

For those who might not be in on the joke...

I may or may not have a small collection of stuffed friends I may or may not attribute to having various traits of my personality.

I also may or may not talk about their preferences, alleged activities, and reactions to a variety of life situations.

Currently, Hoot is featured in my avatar, curiously looking over a clutch of eggs.

I have a joke that he lays Cadbury Creme Eggs 🥚 🥚 🥚 in the spring.

Yes, Hoot is a male owl. Laying candy eggs...

Like me, he's a little confused at how life works. 😬

Not as confused as a green owl who pesters a feline because he thinks that is how you win over a cat. Now THAT is one mixed up bird. Everybody knows you don't make friends with a cat that way.

You'll have to excuse Lynx and his biases against particular stuffed friends of a friend who was just trying... to make a friend. 😬😁😂

Might as well wave a red flag at a bull as a gesture of friendship.

That greenie doesn't understand anything about felines.

I'm pretty content being single but I do want to start dating.

@seoulsearch (deleted the quote, Im still learning the ropes welp)

First of all, thank you for your reply and also the insight to the forum scene. I'm in my mid 20s and this is my first time on a forum :D I guess I should have expected an age gap. That makes this all the more interesting!

To your question, the single scene in general is as a lot of places in the world. Long-lasting relationships and marriage aren't as common anymore. Everyone has trust and commitment issues, no one knows how to be a great partner and I blame those anti-traditional views that have always been pushed onto young people. All that said, it's a little different in the churches.

Some still get married at the green age of 18, some in their early 20s. I am blessed, as I have never been pressured or asked uncomfortable questions from church members, although I often imagine some people do give some side eye. That's just my anxiety talking, though...

Intersting thing happened to me at the bank yesterday. I had an appointment to meet my new bank guy, who will be handling all of my banking issues. I expected a middle-aged Italian, but it turned out to be this young, completely tattooed guy. We spoke informally , which was nice. Long story short, he asked me out and I had to tell him I don't see a future with anyone who doesn't believe in God, which led to the question of which religion (my answer: "God, Jesus, Bible.") and he found that intriguing and wants
to talk about that, so we exchanged numbers. If he does engage, I'm praying for God to use this situation to reach this guy. He was genuinely interested in learning new subjects. I could tell during our appointment.

I don't know if that counts as dating, but God can put anyone in my way. I make it my goal to be His witness. If God puts a nice, young Christian man in front of me, well then...lucky me!

I love this! Very bold
