You know, the funny thing is, I WASN'T EVEN thinking of the BDF when I wrote this.
I am happy to hear that :) BDF takes a lot of flack as it is...

One of the weird things for me is seeing the people who who most severely and regularly criticize it for
how people talk to each other, talking pretty much the very same way to others in other forums here

I actually really admire several regular posters in the BDF for their astonishing body of knowledge.

I was going to talk about the things that make me sad and discouraged enough that I don't frequent that part of the forum very often, but I want to try to keep things here more upbeat.

Some members here on this site, no matter where they post, have an amazing gift for understanding, teaching, and explaining complicated concepts, while being compassionate to know that everyone is in a different place, and those are the posts I stop to read -- as I myself am trolling the forums. :)

I didn't have to.
See, I think that right there just ties it all together again......
seeing things from different points of view, different angles, through different lenses......

You know, it really is funny how God works.

99.9% of the thread topics I formulate are dead-serious, and I had actually been praying and asking God for an idea to make a thread that would just make people laugh and hopefully have a good time. I love the fact that something as simple as writing can have such a profound effect on people's moods, so why not try to give them a good-natured distraction from the pressures of everyday life?

Lo and behold -- I had a conversation with Reborn a few days ago in which he jokingly asked about preferences for light or dark toast, then Zero and Godsgirl came along and pretty much sealed the deal. (I mention this because people often ask me where I get my thread ideas, and it's almost always from the things I have seen, read, or talked about with other people.)

The best part though is that we have awesome people here who actually get the joke -- and are willing to run with it way past the finish line -- because without great people who step up to participate, even the best thread idea is dead in the water.

I am most grateful for all of you! :)

I do this too....
oh :poop: never thought of it as "trolling"
I would rather say "trawling" :D

Heh, no, that is not a southern drawl LOL

TRAWL: an act of sifting through something as part of a search.

Girl, please.

You're one of the smartest people I know.

And, you have that adorable little 'Bama accent to boot! :D
Which reminds me of my late uncle, let’s just call him “Bubba”, to uphold the cliche of a good ole boy with a remote connection to what most folks would agree is somewhat reality.

Now, Bubba, of course, even though his elevator rarely hit the top floor, occasionally would hit the nail on those few and far between moments where his iq would quite literally SHINE through.

which is what I think many people do when they are "getting into it"
though there area few who obviously truly know their stuff.
Even when I know the verse I may want to quote, I search it out to get it exactly right, because God forbid I say it wrong LOL... and in the doing so, I also find other things of interest, sometimes things which take me right away from my original intent of responding in one thread or another. Though my post count appears high, I think I read far more than I have to say

Doing the math and rounding everything off, I make an average of 16 posts a day :D

It's a good thread you started Soulsearch it has given everyone a laugh(y), well it's given me a laugh.

I stay clear of BDF now except the odd time. For a couple of reasons

1. It's the same old stuff (well it's new for those who are new I understand that).
2. This is the most important reason for me. In the heat of debate pride and vanity can take over, and it's ugly, pride and vanity destroy joy in 'my' walk. So often the debates are about point scoring (myself included) rather than shining light. So for me my own spiritual health is more important. Vanity feeds pride and both kill. Both expose the heart to sin which is as we know is ugly and deadly to the walk of faith. I don't mind being honest about. Basically I'm taking Holiness more seriously in my own walk. So if I think I can help someone in BDF I'll try and help or just join in on general topics.

Anyhow back to some more fun.....

People sometimes forget that SYM is in the BDF :D;)

It must be all the coffee and donuts :giggle:

I cast my vote in favor of donuts being bread :):geek:

I prefer quesadillas, mainly because they're cheesy... like my humour.
well now! That's debatable.....
is your humor cheesy........
some might not find the cheese in it but see the humor parts quite well.
