They say a lot of women these days are into bags and/or shoes, and we all know why--we don't have to worry so much about whether a bag or shoes make us look fat (although proportion is still a consideration--a tiny girl with a huge bag, or vice versa, is going to look like she's carrying a tent.)

Ladies, what do you think about those "Purse Parties" where people are selling "Louis Vuitton" bags for like $50?

They're obviously fake knockoffs because everyone knows that's not what LV's cost. It's a very popular thing back in my hometown--there were girls everywhere who would pull up in cars with the wheels falling off (I'm not saying that as a criticism, but as a statement of fact, because it was a low-income area), dressed in hoodies from Walmart--and carrying a Louis Vuitton or Michael Kors bag.

What do y'all think?

Have you ever been daring enough to try a cut throat shave?
If you mean a straight razor shave, I haven't had one. "Daring" isn't the issue; I simply don't know of anyone who offers them locally.

I’ve been in uniform most of my “career”, if you can call the Navy and law enforcement a career, so I haven’t been thinking much about Louis Vuitton or Gucci, but I’d still like to have all that stuff, maybe It’d match my occasional black eyes and bruises haha.

LV - way way out of my monetory league!
Having said that I don’t see the attraction of buying what is basically a canvas bag for £1000. For that price I would want it to at least come with 4 wheels, doors and an engine etc.

I would never buy any bag to impress others. I get them purely from a practical aspect how much can they carry, are the light, are the straps short enough or does it drag on the ground!

We have a useful place over here called TK Maxx. They sell all the designer stuff that isn’t sold on the shops - sale stuff etc.

There are some brilliant bargains to be found. It’s genuine stuff as well.

Ages ago I was bought a Michael Kors bag. Lovely leather red bag.

Only thing was it was so heavy it weighed more empty, than my other bag when it was full. So not wanting to look like the hunch back of notre dam, I gave it away.

One of my collleagues brought a $1,000 Gucci purse.

I told her: “dang girl, that purse better be made of gold!”.

I can (after reading this thread) easily picture myself with a purse like that lol. It’s all Miri’s fault, her thread has made me lose focus and start thinking about girlie things lol.

Told ya!

I turned 50 last year and for the first time in years I bought a dress.
I decided it was time to be the woman God made me to be, instead
of an automated processing, work churning out employee. Lol

I wanted to feel lady like before I ended up in an old people’s home. Ha ha.

Go to an upmarket store and try out some of their perfumes.
Then get your Christmas list ready. 😉

Ive never even looked at Gucci handbags, but apparently $1000 is cheap
at the price and probably second hand!

Is it dead? Just wondered as it looks like you just shot it or something.
😆

(Maybe the blurry picture makes it look dead).

I'm pretty rough on my gear. My Blackhawk back pack actually has a hole in it from gas exiting the end of a muzzle....... Haha Haha

Highly recommend Blackhawk gear by the way. I too got tired of buying a new back pack every year.

I dunno, it could have been genuine LV that was... um... "second hand" let's say.

I know this one guy who was talking about way back in the day when he was in college, there was this guy who would show up at the dorm room late at night with wonderful things at very low prices. They dubbed him the Midnight Skulker. It didn't take too long to figure out he was a fence.

Mind you, I'm not saying those ladies holding the purse parties are knowingly selling stolen goods. But they could have bought them from a fence.

*Seoulsearch rubs her eyes to make sure she is reading that right.*

Stop the presses!

A guy who carries around his own sewing kit in his bag??!!

It pains me greatly to say this ladies, but I think Eli has just won the Girlie thread.

(However, I admit that as someone who dabbles in sewing... I might be slightly biased.)
