I had to take economics in college, and I can't remember it teaching anything remotely useful.
In fact, I was taken aback when the professor specifically taught that you can take out as much debt as you want, as long you can afford the minimum monthly payments each month. All that mattered, he said, was that you could pay the minimum due. He didn't explicitly say it, but the implied conclusion was that when you die, it becomes someone else's problem, so why worry about it?
Unfortunately, I think a good number of people are taught this about money. But God doesn't tell us to take out debt up to our eyeballs and then leave it for someone else to worry about when we die.
I've listened to a lot of videos about how the entire system is designed to keep people poor -- even the notion of going to college, while necessary for some, isn't necessary for everyone, and therefore helps keep the machine running.
But alas... I just realized I wrote a very serious reply and am in danger of being reported!!
