When my friend was in Iraq, he said that many Iraqi men were shocked that he was single considering that he made almost $1000 a month. Because over there, you can buy a wife for much less than that. He said there were wives for sale for less than $100. He explained to the Iraqi men "American wives cost over $10,000, and that's just the down payment. After that you have to pay for upkeep."
I don't think you need money to have a good marriage, you just have to be financially wise. There are many married couples living in poverty that are doing just fine marriage wise. There are even more that are not, but it's not because of their poverty, it's because of their folly. If a man (or woman) is foolish with money, they're most likely foolish in other areas of their life.
I don't think it's unwise, however, to pray for financial security when entering marriage. Just like I would pray for my wife's health. Our marriage could be just fine if she gets ill, but I still want her to be healthy.
