Finger food is a bit easier to handle than say an entire dish thats your portion and others looking at you expecting you to finish it all.

You can politely graze finger food while walking around and talking with your mouth full. You can put anything you dont eat in a napkin and discretly bin it.

I think the solution is bring a doggie bag, or maybe a dog, and say the dog is hungry or I'll take it home for the dog. Or pig. Or chickens. Chickens eat anything.

If it looks like you can hook it, say you'll use it for bait an promise to catch a fish and invite your kind hosts over next time for some real food.

After that tripe story, I will never ever ever try it. Ever. The same applies to something still alive. That's not only nasty, it's cruel.

The most exotic food I've ever had is African. I don't recall the dish or the restaurant, but it was a place in L.A. County. Didn't like it much.

I've also had oxtails, apparently a Jamaican food? Had it only once and that was enough.

I will never ever ever ever knowingly eat a doggie.

Of course there are Klingon foods...

The live leachy worms dish is not very appetizing. But at least it's fresh.
Not always. Picard couldn't get any fresh gagh when he and Data hitched a ride to Romulus.

Make sure you chew it thoroughly though. You will get a nasty surprise if you don't.
