But Larry Summers, the cerebral Harvard economics professor and former Treasury secretary, has a very different view. In a long sit-down interview with Fortune at his home outside of Boston, he argued that the Fed will have to go much higher than most are expecting to cool runaway inflation. In fact his greatest worry is that the Fed will back off too soon. It will simply be too painful—too many lost jobs, too many 401(k)s crashing, too much blowback. He compares it to fighting an infection. “Most of us have learned that [when] the doctor prescribes you a course of antibiotics and you stop taking the course when you feel better rather than when the course prescribed is over, your condition is likely to reoccur. And it’s likely to be more difficult to eradicate the next time because the bacteria have become more resistant.” Summers worries that if the Fed backs off, “inflationary expectations will become entrenched,” and the eventual cure will be far more costly than shouldering what could be a shorter, shallower downturn in the months ahead. This reiterates what he said in June: “We need five years of unemployment above 5% to contain inflation—in other words, we need two years of 7.5% unemployment or five years of 6% unemployment or one year of 10% unemployment,” Summers said in a speech in London according to Bloomberg.

All-day workshop to focus on future of hybrid church
Church of the Apostles UCC, 1850 Marietta Ave. in Lancaster, will host an all-day workshop Saturday, Oct. 1, for church pastors, leadership teams and key volunteers and congregants of any church “who are interested in the future of the church,” according to a news release.
The workshop, “Hybrid Hope,” will be led by The Rev. Michael Piazza, an author, consultant and civil rights activist who currently serves as senior minister at Broadway UCC in New York City and as an adjunct professor of congregational renewal at Hartford Seminary.
The workshop will explore the lasting impact of COVID-19 isolation on the wider church, what it means to be a hybrid church and practical recommendations to help churches flourish.

I don't know about how the relationship of world currencies is 'determined' but since sanctions were imposed on Russia it seems the only currency (Kitco table) which has strengthened relative to U.S. $ is the Russian ruble. What gives? Is there simple explanation. Something to do with oil & gas rich Russia?
Pound slides at risky economic plan

The United Kingdom’s new government outlined plans Friday to cut taxes and boost spending in an effort to bolster the faltering economy, but the high-risk moves sparked concerns that increased public borrowing will worsen a cost-of-living crisis and sent the British pound on its biggest one-day drop in 2½ years.

Treasury chief Kwasi Kwarteng announced sweeping tax cuts that he said would boost economic growth and generate increased revenue without introducing corresponding spending reductions. He also said previously announced plans to cap soaring energy bills for homes and businesses would be financed through borrowing.

Kwarteng offered few details on the costs of the program or its impact on the government’s own targets for reducing deficits and borrowing, but one independent analysis expected it to cost taxpayers 190 billion pounds ($207 billion) this fiscal year.

The British currency fell more than 3% to as low as $1.0899 in afternoon trading in London, from 1.1255 on Thursday.

Even the world recognizes that Christians love their Christ-Mass trees and get primeval when they can't have them. A question for those who say the true meaning of Christ-Mass is the Lord's birth: Where does the Christ-Mass tree fit into this picture? I don't recall any references in the Bible of any tree being even remotely connected to His birth.

Of course a tree is connected to Jesus story, He was hung on a tree. I wonder why they never use images of a crucified Christ as Christmas tree ornaments? Maybe if you go to the AntiChrist's home for Christmas he will have ornaments depicting crucified Christians hanging from his tree.
