Well Bob, since Jesus promises to protect His own if we give him first place with every thought, word and deed, your convalescence time might be more fruitful if you invest it in prayerful conversation of why you have experienced these maladies.
Just the way you lashed out in post is enough to step out from His guidance and protection.
I think we all know substance abuse issues are just another way the devil attempts to steal, kill and destroy God's creation and are only the symptom of the deep underlying problem/problems but becomes such that it needs to be healed before the underlying issue can be addressed.
Your post is far from the Love, Joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control that marks the true believer.

I'll accept what you said because I believe that you have good intentions. I'm clean and sober and have been a long time. Thank you for your concern. I survived the tribulation that partially overcame me for a short while. Spread the gospel in the rest home after the Chaplin was banned from entering due to Covid. I've have lived with two tenants since that caught C-19, 1 died from it. The one that recovered used to practice astrology and numerology and prepare charts for others, here! I rebuked her and She asked me to show to her in the Bible where those things are forbidden. I did.
Lately we have been sharing and comparing the letter to the Hebrews with the book of Genesis. She's fascinated with the comparison of Jesus to Melchizedek and looks forward to his return! I don't think what happened to me was an accident or mistake any more than Jonah getting puked up by on the beach by a fish was an accident either. I as well as many others have suspected for a long time (since the 80's) that the first Beast AKA; THE ANTICHRIST would be a politician quite possibly from the United States and that the New Babylon AKA; THE GREAT PROSTITUTE is the United States. In fact it was nearly the #3 topic behind Salvation of course and evangelism at the Charismatic conventions that I attended.
Suprise, we discussed it more so than the manifestation and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Or how to witness to cult members of LDS, JW or Scientology. The discussions and lectures covered; The Illuminati, the trilateral commission, World Bank, European common market, the Freemasons and/or their ties to the Vatican. Invited guests were Charismatic Catholic, Orthodox movements and/or Jews for Jesus. The conventions lasted for about 18 hours a day for 7 days & nights including meals, fellowship and Christian & Concerts. The second convention was extended another week. Trinity Broadcasting covered most everything (Except the Concerts. Paul & Jan couldn't stand Christian Rock)
I'm not new at this. I'm just a watchman sounding the alarm, "The enemy is near, gird up your loins, put on your armor and sharpen your swords." I do not believe that the USA is under God's protection or that the Devil and his minions aren't involved with
all of the current political parties. Most wannabe Nimrods know the old saying, "divide and conquer." Do you not believe that Lucifer is the prince of this world now? Until Jesus returns, that is.
