You mean the evil of congress voting in Biden/Harris?
Yes! I denounce it!
No, I mean the evil of Trump supporters attacking the Capitol. You call me "leftist" and say I'm evil, and you assume I embrace all leftist policies, but I don't. I have repeatedly said I disagree with Biden (who isn't even a leftist) on many issues, and that I'm not a Democrat. And yet you're so blind you can't see that. You and your ilk are so brainwashed that your sense and reason have been completely clouded.
There were a few things Trump did that I agreed with, and I gave him credit for them. I still think he was a terrible person and a terrible president, over all. I judge every president individually, based on what they actually do and say, not based on their party affiliations. I have disagreed with some policies of EVERY president in my lifetime. Some more than others. None of them have been perfect.
I have said this before, and I'll say it again:
When I first heard about Antifa, I was fooled by their rhetoric. I thought "Antifa just means 'anti-fascist,' so if you're anti-antifa, you're just fa, or fascist." But then I spent some time researching the movement and their beliefs, and realized that they believe in furthering their agenda (which isn't horrible -- anti-fascism, which is basically a good thing) at all costs, including violence and murder (and that's where they lose me). So yes, I denounce them.
BLM started out as a hashtag, not an organized group. Starting in 2019, there has been an organized movement with elected officials. The organization denounces violence, and teaches its members non-violent means of protest, including sit-ins and silent protests. They tell their members NOT to engage police or people who oppose them. I support that movement. If you don't, you're a fool.
Unfortunately, there are people who will take advantage of large groups and sneak in to wreak havoc. That is what happened here in the Portland area, and I imagine the same thing happened in other cities. I have several friends who were part of the protests here, and they reported that the protests were completely peaceful, no throwing things, no fires, nothing even remotely destructive. The worst thing that BLM members did was write with chalk (not spray-paint, but CHALK) on some buildings.
The violence that was being reported by the media was in areas miles away from and hours after the BLM protests, and were initiated by people who had no connection to BLM. They were common street thugs (of varying races, mostly white but there were other races involved, too, so it had nothing to do with race) who took advantage of the heightened security in another part of town to commit property damage like breaking windows of store-fronts (although even that, they targeted chains and mega-corps instead of mom-and-pops). The fires were caused by police who fired smoke bombs which caught fire. Neither of those things were caused by the BLM people, who had already gone home by the time those things happened.
What I don't understand is why people who constantly accuse the media of lying are willing to believe that same media when they report something they want to believe is true. Yes, the media lies, and not out of some leftist conspiracy. They just want to spin a good story. Which story is better: "Random violence breaks out for no reason" or "Protests devolve into violence"? Obviously the second is the better story to write.
The difference between you and me isn't just our political ideologies. The difference is that I'm willing to change my views when given evidence that my views are wrong.
You cling to falsehoods, refusing to acknowledge that the emperor has no clothes.
That doesn't make you strong, or faithful, or right. It makes you gullible and weak.
