It is too difficult take away guns from just "bad" people; that would happen after the fact which is too late. Sometimes a few bad seeds ruin it for everyone. For example, there are always a few bad students who chew gum and them stick it under the desk, on books, etc. So the easiest way for the teacher is to ban gum for the whole class. If there is vending machine vandalism, the school removes the vending machine. If students misbehave, the punishment gets worse. Gun restrictions won't stop gangs from having guns; they always manage to find guns through their secret providers. But it will reduce a lot of other types of shootings like domestic violence situatons, suicides, accidental deaths, etc. Most women shot are murdered by men they know not by strangers.
No one is going to take away guns in America. Joe Biden is illegitimate. Everyone who owns a gun in America knows that and they are not about to hand over their gun to him.

I posted a story today, I'll reshare the link, go to 17:20 for this story.

Australia is planning to implement Shanghai style martial law in August of 2022. At 18:34 he says that Canada and Australia are dry runs for what they plan to do in the US. Everyone who has a gun realizes that what is happening in Canada and Australia could only happen there because they don't have guns.

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" - Isaiah 5:20
Yes, what I find utterly despicable is that all those who are calling to take the guns, they have private security, they own guns, they have the secret service, they live in gated communities. They are not talking about their guns, they are talking about taking away your guns. The hypocrisy is apalling.

Plus, they threw large stones, not itty bitty pebbles...

Probably more like bricks, and one good hit with a stone that size could
certainly knock your lights out. Not many would need to be thrown.

And, in acknowledgment of what thread this is: Yeah! Hey, hey, bricks need to be outlawed!!!! ;):giggle:
Good way to build a reputation lol
The reason they dont out law bricks is because they dont want people to see whats going on behind closed doors lol

People still get stoned to death in certain countries for certain offenses.

If they outlawed bricks only criminals would have brick houses.

If they out lawed bricks we could all end up living glass and steel structures or back to mud and straw huts.

Steel! Steel! Are you talking about swords? You can't make sticks and stones illegal without making steel illegal.

I have heard this statement used in the context of debate on gun ownership, can someone explain please?
Oncefallen has given the meaning of this saying. If you really want an answer, there it is. Seems to me you're making this way more complicated than it is.

A firearm is an inanimate object, in and of itself it can do nothing. In order for a firearm to discharge a person must intentionally squeeze the trigger, it will not discharge by itself.

We don't blame the car or car manufacturer when someone uses a vehicle in an illegal or unsafe manner that results in death, so why are firearms and their manufacturers blamed when a firearm is used in a criminal or wreckless manner and someone dies?
Firearms have one purpose: to kill. That's the difference between a car and a gun.

Apparently the weedkiller paraquat was banned in Samoa because people kept killing themselves by drinking it.
About 30 countries have banned it. One Australian went to prison for misusing it. He put it into a drink container instead of the proper, marked container. Someone found the container and assumed it was safe. He drank it. He died.

Oh, I thought the purpose of guns was to provide food for the family and to provide a fun pastime for the kids, and security for the house.

I would be perfectly fine with every gun on earth disappearing by tomorrow morning; even my own. But I'm realistic enough to know that will never happen. So, until that wonderful utopian day arrives, I will keep my 9mm and my AR15'. God even gave sheep horns to defend themselves.

Seems hypocritical to me that those who have spent $3 trillion on defense weapons in the last five years telling Americans to turn in their guns.

I've done all those things one time or another, and never even thought of using a gun in the process.

Oh, so everyone in this world needs to be like Gideon300. Am I misunderstanding what you meant to say or is this an extremely arrogant comment that it appears to be that since you don't use a gun no one else needs to either?

Can you deal with a grizzly bear or Polar bear without a gun? Because we have Americans who have had to use guns to protect themselves and their families from them. Can you provide a year worth of meat for your family without a gun? There are a great many people in this country that hunt birds, deer and other big game to feed their family.

Recently a woman shot and killed a man who was shooting at a crowd with an AR 15. From this comment I assume you also have taken out a man with an AR 15 but without a gun, so please let us know how you did it.

Its what pastors call a rabit trail, where a topic leaves the main message lol.

We were discussing stoning as punishment and bricks just came out of it.

Guns simply cannot be blamed for the high murder rate in the USA and not for the large numbers of mass shootings either. It is a cultural problem. Switzerland is a country with the most liberal gun laws in the world. Switzerland encourages it's citizens to own guns as protection against invaders. This policy has enabled Switzerland to remain neutral through the major wars.

The country has about 2 million privately owned guns in a nation of 8.3 million people. In 2016, the country had 47 attempted homicides with firearms. The country's overall murder rate is near zero.

Switzerland hasn't had a mass shooting since 2001, when a man stormed the local parliament in Zug, killing 14 people and then himself. That's over 20 years ago. Here's a good article on the Swiss and their liberalized gun laws: Switzerland Gun Laws: Why the Country Has Fewer Gun Deaths Than the US (businessinsider.com)

So, I repeat, you can't look at guns to find the reason for so much violence it the USA, you have to look at the culture of Americans instead.

In fact, up until the year 2010, the Swiss required that all able bodied men own an automatic weapon. Until 2010, all capable males were required to keep a Sig SG 550 and a Sig Sauer p229 at home or at the local armory, to provide for the national defense. The service is now voluntary, and they have comprehensive military training. So-called “free arms” such as single-shots and bolt-action rifles can be purchased by anyone over 18 years of age without a permit.

And yet, the mass shootings and high gun murder rates don't exist in Switzerland.

I must have missed a news cycle but I heard Biden give his speech on gum control. As a former teacher I totally support gum control. But when did the problem of gum rise to the level of National pronouncements by the President? I thought we were on the brink of WWIII, massive stagflation that will lead to the greatest depression, crisis on the border and shortages of food and high gas prices. When did gum control become our most important issue?
