Trump makes another phone call with Putin amidst Ukraine and Russia both going back to escalating strikes on eachother. Though of course some are making big deals about this because of Trump I'd note that Putin also made a recent less talked about call to the new Pope Leo as well giving some inclination of having the Pope broker a ceasefire or some type of peace talks. This should be seen as somewhat significcant as not only is the new Pope American but he is also a European head of state too, so the timing of the phone call to both Trump and the Pope could be a potentially good sign that Putin might be getting ready to lay down his arms and come to the table.
On the other side of things the Russia hawks like Lindsey Graham clash with the populist far left and far right wings represented by Chris Cuomo and Bannon actually come to a bit of an agreement to draw ire against Lindsey Graham's controversial trip to Ukraine cutting it either as a corrupt and needlessly expensive trip or warmongering and saber-rattling and sabotaging the peace effort. Trump himself though as expected kinda balances the factions with practically and briefly commented on the Graham trip in a fashion where he might consider the sanctions proposed and he tacitly approves of the delegation. I do agree it is kind of a bad timing optically as the Trump-Pope Leo-Putin phone calls today are the best sign for peace and diplomacy that we have seen since the meeting in Saudi Arabia with Rubio. However I don't think neccessarily Graham is a traitor for this, I'd note in the deeper story that there are other Senators that went with Lindsey Graham, he's just simply the more famous one, it's a legit delegation, and minding their ranks within the financial type committees of the Senate also I would say it's actually due dilligence as well as diplomacy and it's actually a good look here for Trump to go soft on them but get them to scratch Trump's back also by working with Trump to get that Big Beautiful Bill passed that just entered the Senate. Despite the culture wars really thiis is actually pretty big progression and intersection of many high tier politics news plotlines and some positive signs at that all around, praise Jesus.
