I think I may have an answer to the comparison between the flu and coronavirus. Some are getting upset with people like me....and I think I understand why now. Comparing covid-19 and the flu....its kind of like comparing my skills as a basketball player to those of Lebron James.
Its striking me that statements made by leading scientific expers and gov't officials, that coronavirus is at least 10x more deadly than the seasonal flu....that it might be both true and false, a paradox in a way. And the determining factors would be age and health.
Certainly its true for the elderly and immune comprimised. Those with Diabetes know that progression on to both Kidney and Cardivascular diseases is common. A senior in a nursing home suffering from those three conditions, and maybe cancer as well....there might be a fighting chance against seasonal flu, but based on the reports coming out of Italy and NYC....I would not be surprised if mortality among people in this segement of the population is darn near 100%
Contrast that with young and otherwise healthy young children however and it looks like seasonal flu is far more deadly.
Going back to Diabetes. StatsCan says that in 2017 2.3 million Canadians aged 12 and older had been diagnosed with that disease. I can only assume that number is going higher. I worry about people working at grocery stores and pharmacies (any job deemed essential actually) who are still going into work given the heighhened risk they have of developing more severe complications due to Covid-19 than those who are young and otherwise healthy.

what the Chinese virus has pointed out, as much as anything , is a health crisis here in America.
I mean, a lot of people have medical problems of no fault of their, but a whole lot IS people's own fault,
I am 47. when I was a kid, grocery stores had a huge produce section, 1 or 2 isles of frozen food.
now, there is a small produce section, and a huge frozen food section.
the amount of fast food places has tripled since the early 80's.

I did read where obese people are also at risk...not just because of the extra load they carry, but because of all the health issues associated with being obese in the first place
I don't know where you shop,but all our grocery stores here have huge fresh vegetable sections. plus, we have quite a number of stands where you can buy fresh picked
prob one reason there is so much frozen dinners now, is because they are so much better

We like the HC steamer bowls. I do caution that you monitor you daily sodium intake if you do eat any frozen meals.
Cooking meals for two is difficult for us to do, and we always have a lot of leftovers. At about $2.50 per bowl, and 4 minutes in the microwave, we have dinner and no left overs. Clean up is a breeze also.

I was just saying lockdown won't stay. Maybe not you, but it seems from this thread people are afraid that they will stay in some lockdown limbo or permanently lose rights of assembly, etc. It will be a couple of months at the most. This is not sustainable in the long run. US just didn't have any epidemics like that recently. The fear about the mitigation measures is unfounded. These are not abnormal measures for epidemics, and are more aggressive in other countries. Even the communist China is opening it all back up already. How much more so the US.

I think the tragedy here is that we're so close to Easter and all churches are closed and shall be on Easter from the looks of it.

I think it was the latter 90's a man who worked for our government, and I forget what department, was talking about what we now refer to as the Deep State.
He spoke about many things but this is what I remember thanks to this latest video. He said we had to realize the Deep State in operating its agenda for America and manipulating people into the evolutionary stages of that agenda do not plan in terms of years. Rather they plan in terms of decades, generations, and even centuries.
With this Corona virus crisis as we know it to be now, I don't doubt this is somehow part of that planning. It so happens that our economy is booming like it either hasn't ever before, or hasn't in decades. Now we have business closed and unable to pay employees. The monies in the 2 trillion dollar spending bill recently passed for those businesses is not easy to come by. The paperwork is enormous and costly. We heard Cheesecake Factory may go out of business due to their not being able to pay the mortgages on their locations.
I don't think we've seen anything yet as pertains to limiting our freedoms.

Someone said not too long ago that when the vaccine for this virus is made available it will be mandatory to receive the injection. In order to keep the record of a person receiving that vaccine you'll get a serial number or some such, that will also log in your phone. But really, what will be in the vaccine is a tracking chip that, along with your phone, allows you to be tracked.
At this stage, I don't put anything past governments and private special interests that buy the American Legislators on a daily basis as a matter of business.
If that vaccine is compulsory I'd hope invoking religious right as a Jehovah Witness would preclude compliance. Being one or not, at least you're not chipped.

In the bible, the alternative option to the Mark of the Beast is being beheaded. I'm not sure claiming one is a JW will be a third option.

I don't think that it means that everyone who refuses the mark of the beast will have their heads cut off. Rev. 13 16-18 says that they will not be able to buy or sell, not that they will cut everyone's head off... That would seriously be redundant to say that someone without a head because they were decapitated could not buy or sell...lol
Here is what Rev. 20 says:
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
And here is what Rev. 13 says about it:
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
