Yep yeast is yeast but each has a different flavor. The water after you boil potatoes would work, even raisins unless they put preservatives on them(kills the yeast). Just plain corn has some handy uses(not bread so much) but you can put it in a barrel and add water and wait a few weeks till it ferments and go down by the creek with your post whole diggers and dig down as far as you can(about 3 feet and when you spread the handles they hit the side of the hole so you cant go deeper) and fill it with the fermented corn. If you filter the liquid from the corn into a spay bottle and spray it on the bushes a couple of hundred feet in a circle around where you put the corn the wind will carry it all through the woods. Then just wait when the hogs find it they'll eat the corn and after a few days it will look like a bomb crater or something. Ive had hogs dig out a hip hole and start sleeping by a baited hole it's like they think "I know I stuck my nose in there and ate some corn" and so as long as they can smell it they just keep digging and looking for it.

Water though is the hard part because everything stops without water. Most every time you read or hear about what to do to get water they start off with "you will die in three days without water" and then try to sell you something or tell you about things they bought. The whole truth of it is you'll die in three days without water,(comma),,,then after the next three,(comma),,,and then well 365.25 days divided by 3 is 121.75 so anyone trying to live through that first year needs to figure out how to get water for 121.75 consecutive sets of three days. It's sort of like the hole filled with corn but with water, you dig the hole find the water and the people will dig hip holes around it and sleep there. Springs come to mind if not water filtered through sand, charcoal and boiled ect.

Water has been my main concern. Last year I got a price for a well and was quoted $3500 and was put on a waiting list. The drillers didn't get back to me so I contacted them a couple months ago and was quoted $6500 for the same well. "Let's go Brandon"

Can't afford that so I'm building a rain water catchment system. I installed the first of several water tanks and just filled it with tap water and hooked up an on demand water pump and tonight will be testing my system before I expand things. Water tanks like many things have shot up in price so it will still cost me a few thousand dollars to set up. I'm putting them in my house and need to buy smaller tanks that will fit through a 36" door which cost more per gallon but I feel the need to be stealthy.

Raising a garden is just not an option for all. Good soil, water, know how.
Wife and I have gotten to old to work a garden like we did in the past.
But there is a lot of non perishable food that can be stored for years that is still plentiful and affordable. May soon end.
Just understand that meat and fresh fruit and vegetables, and bread will not be there, but one can survive on dry beans, rice, pasta, can fruit and vegetables.
Remember to rotate and use the oldest first.
And don't forget bottled water and TP.

Rather funny when the pandemic hit and TP was getting hard to find. I collect decorative napkins for crafts and I was afraid we'd have to use my fall and Christmas napkins. lol

hmm,,, not sure how to answer other than I think it may end up being a geographical location decision making situation that might be good in one location and not in another. If you look at drought maps for the entire world everyone is experiencing drought conditions. Anyway it will I think depend on where you live and how the drought is spreading across the continent where you live. For instance Mexico is also in drought conditions and right above it Texas is approaching d4-d5(5's the max) similar to parts of the west coast. I grabbed this from the web because of the neato photo but I have no idea about why they jump from one subject to the other in the same article(oh, and it shows the map of the drought conditions in Mexico,Texas ect). https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/150123/a-reservoir-runs-dry

Why I said that is I live in Texas and I have gone to the dollar store and bought the little kiddie pools and me and my wife use them to catch the rain and add water to it if we have to and rotate in and out about a hundred potted plants(waters them from the bottom and soaks the root ball but a hundred seems like millions when your really doing it,lol). We went to Walmart and they gave us about 150 flower pots they put water in to keep the mothers day flowers alive while they sell them(they throw them away ask the manager for them)... They don't have holes in the bottom so some of them we drilled 1/16 holes in(one at first, then two but it kept stopping up and about three lets it soak in considering trash plugging the holes) and we put them beside the things in the garden and we water the plants beside them so that it soaks into the ground right by the roots. The problem is though that with all the kiddie pools and buckets to catch the rain set out they all stay empty because it's not raining at all where I live in Texas.

I suppose though if it's raining half as much as it normally does in your location every drop counts so if you can double that amount by catching the rain when it rains it might help. Where I live I wake up every morning and look at the radar. As the day heats up the sea breeze forms clouds and they move inland and build up for about 50 miles and then downgrade and go from red to orange to green and the dry air just carries it away with no rain or just a few sprinkles. Anyway good luck with it and I hope it works well for you where you live.

The US military doesn't fool around when they have shortages. It is very enlightening how they are actively responding.

They did not have enough recruits to maintain the military's strength, so they took decisive action.

They waived requirements for a minimum IQ, they waived requirements that the people in the military not have serious mental illnesses, and they waived the requirement that the recruits not use illegal drugs.

But for some reason we are seeing a large number of soldiers retiring, resigning or just refusing to sign up at all and this is despite all the free entertainment with the Drag shows that the military is hosting and the free vaccination program.

lol, their all retiring because the vast majority of them can now qualify to run for office and eventually be commander and chief...

In the spring it was a little dry here but has rained a lot since then. There's a spring about 200 feet from my house which flows the same amount year round so I do have a back up water source. But it would have to be filtered.

I have plenty of sand and rock around my house. I can also make charcoal and use the sand, rock and charcoal to make a large water filter out of a couple 55 gallon barrels. I have also been kicking around the idea of driving a sand point well or washing one down. The washing down method I think would work better for me as I don't think I could drive a sand point.

You must be east of me then. Hand pumps only operate 20-30 or so feet and after that you'll need some type of pump(windmill, electric ect.)... Most wells around my area are 150 to 350 foot deep but if there's a spring 200 foot from your house even a sand point should go 25 foot in the ground(use a wooden mallet or a steel hammer will rattle the pipe coupling threads)...

Solar flare warning in the news from NASA. It's supposed to reach earth today. It might be disinformation, or real. Who knows but God. We do know that He can stop it from doing any damage, if it's real.
This thread reminds me of the importance of having some reserves while trusting the Lord. Especially trusting Him to provide.

"Inflation is a White Privilege problem"

I heard this quoted from some MSM outlet I wouldn't otherwise listen to. But it made so much sense. If you are worried about being shot on the way home, or about WWIII, or about losing your job to someone who crossed the border illegally, is the fact that you can no longer afford gas really that big an issue to you? 40% of small businesses are going bankrupt, surely that is a bigger issue than inflation to them. If you can't get baby formula to feed your baby are you really gonna quibble about the price if you do find a can? How about those people in California whose homes have burned down? There are so many bigger and more immediate issues than whether or not you can heat your home this winter. People voted for Biden because they wanted a change from Trump. This is a change we can all agree on even if it is hard to believe.

Joe Biden -- Keep telling us about the great success in fighting inflation

Right now we are eating last years crop. This years crop is terrible. The drought and locusts have extended all the way to the southern border of South Dakota.

The reason meat has not gone up in price is because of the panic selling. They can't feed the cows so they are slaughtering them. This means next year meat will be very expensive.

Social Credit Score

Really clever idea, you collect billions and billions in tax revenue to build roads, bridges, telecommunications, financial system, economy, etc. Then once you have that in place you give everyone in the country a social credit score so that a few potentates get to decide who gets to use the stuff they paid to build and who doesn't. Cartman would be proud.

Then the Universal Basic Income is the cherry on the top. They take money from everyone in the country and then disperse it to those people who are the most obedient to them. Like Pavlov's dogs, every time you obey their heinous orders to commit atrocities you get a treat!

One great way to get a treat is to turn in your friends and family. Of course this works best during a famine and recession, if only we had a famine and recession to help kick off this system.
