That little mind trip was promoted by the socialist liberals starting in the early 70's........Liberals have been pushing this particular ideology for decades, yet it only seems to cause far more harm than good. Again, slavery was "made" the "central issue" by President Lincoln for the reason I stated prior, and to rally support for the war cause against the South. You can continue to profess that there were no "real" differences in ideology concerning self Government, States Rights between the States, but you do so in ignorance of the truth.

Everyone knows South Carolina was the first state to secede. Lol, they fly that dixie flag over their government building even still today for that very reason. When South Carolina seceded their central reason was "States' Rights." The focal "States' right" that they cited was slavery.
Some say Abe Lincoln's election was a major factor in Southern secession. Well why was Lincoln's election such a contentious issue at that time? Lincoln's election was a controversy of old because he threatened to block slavery's expansion, and ultimately to abolish it entirely. Once again the hot button issue of that time was slavery.
This is the direct chain of events that led to the US Civl War. It is not unhistorical.
