Russia has progressed a long way: They were once a communist empire bent on conquering the world—now they are a good conservative nation.
Read about how Putin is helping to strengthen Christianity in his country here:

Meanwhile in America, politicians and subversive interest groups want to promote “separation of church and state.” They have conniptions whenever prayer in public schools happens and use state power to shut it down.
Christianity is thriving in Russia, but here in America Christianity is being snuffed out of public life. Multiculturalism and diversity, both code words for diluting the demographic integrity of Christian-majority nations, is the political fashion in America. Meanwhile in Russia, they don’t tolerate things like homosexuals indoctrinating children with homosexualist propaganda.
It is clear to me that Russia is a conservative country, whereas America has become a left-wing cultural Marxist nation that wants to get rid of Christianity in the name of diversity and tolerance. Thus, I wish Vladimir Putin the best of luck in defeating a NATO and EU ally. May God grant Russia success and return Ukraine back to their rightful place.
Please remember that the only type of Christianity that Putin allows is the Russian Orthodox Church. The Orthodox used the Bible to a much greater degree than the RCC. But there are rites and rituals that Protestants don't agree with, and the Orthodox church does not acknowledge the pope in Rome. Each national church has its own leader, the vernacular has always been spoken, too.
The problem is, many Orthodox believe only Orthodox are saved, and Putin has bought into that lie. Protestant Christians in particular, can be put into jail for not being a member of the ROC. That includes Baptists, Pentecostals, Lutherans, Reformed and many other denominations.
I really have to object to Putin being characterized as a protector of Christians. Further, I know quite a few people in Ukraine who are very concerned about the troop build ups. Russia vs Ukraine has been going on for a long time- probably the Crimean war or well before. After Stalin captured and killed millions of Ukrainian serfs and peasants, he took every animal and ever seed of grain, in 1932-33 literally millions died of starvation.
"Holodomor, man-made
famine that convulsed the
Soviet republic of Ukraine from 1932 to 1933, peaking in the late spring of 1933. It was part of a broader Soviet famine (1931–34) that also caused mass starvation in the
grain-growing regions of Soviet
Russia and
Kazakhstan. The Ukrainian famine, however, was made deadlier by a series of political decrees and decisions that were aimed mostly or only at Ukraine. In acknowledgement of its scale, the famine of 1932–33 is often called the Holodomor, a term derived from the Ukrainian words for hunger (
holod) and extermination (
mor)."

Russia stole Ukrainian athletes, their poets and writers, musicians & dancers and in eastern Ukrainian replaced the Ukrainian language with Russian. There is no doubt this is also part of the genocide by Russia of Ukrainian people and culture.
As a person who is half Ukrainian, you will never convince me Russia will ever have good intentions towards the Republic of Ukraine. My father, who was born in Canada, but raised with Ukrainian as his first language, had many stories to tell about the aggressors and threats from Russia towards the Ukraine!
I will protest loudly any implication that Putin and Russia care about anything but themselves. Maybe even going back to a Soviet style of governance. Putin was a KGB officer, he will never lose that training!
