maybe he should buy the department of education next, and make them teach math again.
((joke))

i do appreciate that as a fabulously rich man, Mssr. Musk is not totally devoted to making himself even more rich or simply gratifying his own vanity. unlike many other rich men. he doesn't seem to be after money, power & fame as an end-game, but a tool.

while he does satisfy extravagant personal whims, like launching his car into orbit around the sun or buying twitter, he by and large uses his vast wealth to try to accomplish things that he feels need to be accomplished, like providing world-wide high-speed internet access, kickstarting a transition to automobiles that aren't dependent on oil, privately funding the whole space-exploration thing that our government neatly abandoned after we got to the moon, etc.

while of course i don't agree with most of his views or many of his aims, and wish he was more philanthropic, i do respect the fact that he's more of a Carnegie and less of a Trump, as ridiculously, grossly, absurdly wealthy people go.

The reason is Musk is wary of the number of fake accounts. He does not want to be paying for accounts that do not exist in reality.
Hey, bringing down the MSM, there is more than one way to skin a cat.

It was a short lived platform that allowed 140 character comments. They got involved in election fraud, destroyed their credibility and then when Elon Musk made an offer to buy the stock it was game over for them because all their lies were brought out into the light of day.

most likely the reason he is hesitating.

To say that Twitter has no credibility is redundant. Twitter made its money catering to the fake leftist MSM from the beginning, which turned out to be a very lucrative and politically effective venture. However, $44,000,000,000 is a LOT of money and Elon is no idiot. The worth of Twitter is now waning with the lying leftist's approval rating... Only someone like Elon CAN save Twitter and that's a huge negotiating point. Elon could just let twitter die and start his own platform for a lot less money. Twitter is just a "brand name" that's lost its punch, as evidenced by its willingness to sell out.

Pretty much a picture of the left shouting down anyone who attempts to correct their lies.

A change would be nice.

Picture would be more accurate if it was a robotic bird. Probably upward of 80% of Twitter's traffic on subjects of merit were likely bots.

How do you know it isn't? AI is looking more and more lifelike these days ;). Seriously though, it's just a cartoon.

I'm not up to speed re the Musk bid or purchase; last I read it was definitely bot city and not worth the price.

It is amazing what a terrible person that Elon Musk is, he used to be just as popular as Trump was before we learned what a terrible person Trump is.

The EU Takes Charge
By Hal Lindsey
The European Union is in the final stages of enacting a law called “the Digital Services Act.” They say it establishes accountability measures for online platforms operating in the EU. But in reality, it gives the EU censorship power over most of the earth’s primary communication platforms.

According to the Search Engine Journal, “The DSA [Digital Services Act] aims to protect internet users by establishing an ‘unprecedented new standard’ for online platforms that will see companies such as Google, Meta (Facebook), and Twitter held accountable for illegal and harmful content.”

That raises two massive questions. First, accountable to whom? With just a little reading, the answer becomes clear. They will be accountable to European bureaucrats. The second question is, who decides what content is harmful and what is not? The answer to the second question is the same as the answer to the first—EU bureaucrats.

Under this law, the online platforms are supposed to police their own users. But when they are compelled to do so by a government, it is still government censorship. Ultimately, it’s all about the global elites, and silencing those who oppose their political agendas.

At first, it may seem like this law only affects people in the EU, but in fact it affects every person using an internet service that does business in the EU. That means Alphabet (including Google and YouTube), Meta (including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp), Twitter, Microsoft, and even Amazon. What might Amazon sell that would offend the elites? How about books and videos by conservatives in general and Christians in particular?

The European Commission is considered the executive branch of the EU government. The Commission put out a press release saying, “The DSA sets out an unprecedented new standard for the accountability of online platforms regarding illegal and harmful content.”
Note again that they are not just suppressing “illegal content,” but also “harmful content.” And the EU decides what is and what is not “harmful.”

The European Commission’s press release quoted one of their own, Margrethe Vestager. She said the DSA will “prevent dangerous disinformation from going viral.” Think about the breadth of that promise. It means intense and comprehensive policing of the “world wide web.”

In case it wasn’t clear who will be in charge, the Commission’s press release quoted another of their own, Thierry Breton. He said the DSA “entrusts the Commission with supervising very large platforms.”

The European Commission will be in charge. They will supervise the results of your Google search and which items show up on your Facebook page.

The Bible is clear that the Antichrist will arise from a revived Roman Empire. In other words, he will be a European. From there, he will eventually rule the world. And the groundwork for his power is already being laid from Europe to the whole earth.

there are lots of alternatives now to google , which has so many ads that its hopjng you will click on them and lose money on them

facebook has had its day, not many people use it now, except oldies who are catching up on their lost youth

also amazon isnt the only online retailer of books either

not sure what the big deal is, if lots of people had been abusing those sites. then it sadly DOES need policing.

with twitter, its such a bully site that people have committed suicide over death threats or offensive comments directed to them and not only that broadcast to everyone, ruining reputations etc

with facebook people were posting harmful things like shooting videos where peoole were DYING or being raped on your screen sending them to everyone and hoping for LIKES

if that isnt sick behaviour then I dont know what is.

Librarians have always known the WWW is a tangle with misinformation, its not the same as in print where you can weed out the old books but at least a copyright year has always been given so you know the context. Online you may not even have that context. Its stuff you just pick out of the clouds at random and often does not make sense to anyone.

go to any webpage or online journal site and its a mishmash of opinions, puff prieces and advertising as newspapers were back in the day but much worse cos you cannot use it to wrap your garbage in or wipe your bottom with as you can with newspaper
