Great point and that will certainly be one aspect in play. But does abandoning the truth require fealty to the antichrist? It seems to me many Christians will reject the antichrist while still turning from God's Truth - and believing they haven't. That to me seems to be the biggest of all the deceptions ... and the deception God specifically warns believers about ... turning from God's truth while believing you haven't. That's the one that gets the elect off track.
Many are turning from God's truth right now and don't believe they really have. However, where this is all leading is the ultimate acceptance of the Antichrist. That's the message of Revelation 13:8:

". . .and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain."

People will either love truth or believe the lie.

God Warns us about a deception to come in the end. For sure the world is steeped in deceptions - So why would He warn us about a specific one?
There are several aspects to Satanic deception, and of course the final and ultimate deception is in the future. That is what God has warned us about in 2 Thessalonians 2.

1. But Satanic deception went into effect almost immediately after creation. We see it in the Garden of Eden, and then throughout Bible history and Church history.

2. The Roman Catholic Church has a form of false Christianity which is holding millions in bondage for almost 2,000 years. Their doctrines are based on deception.

3. The current tsunami of deception is a part of the Great Apostasy that has infected Christendom. It began in the 19th century and now even the evangelical and fundamentalist churches are unable to resist this deception. Contemporary music plays a great part in this.

4. People are being deceived worldwide as to what is the true Gospel, and what are the true Bible doctrines. The well-known televangelists and people like Joseph Prince have convinced Christians that their messages are biblical, when they are not. And there are not enough Christians with discernment.

5. The majority of churches have failed to stand against the lies of the devil, and have also adopted corrupted bible versions wholesale. Then we have all the cults promoting their lies, and growing by leaps and bounds. The growth of the cultists far exceeds the growth of genuine Christians.

6. All the institutions of higher learning which were rooted in Christianity have been thoroughly corrupted and became bastions of Marxism, Communism, and Anarchism.

6. Finally since January 2020 all the governments of the world have chosen to deceive their citizens in order to rob them of their personal freedoms and and establish tyranny in countries which were formerly free. Medical tyranny is killing off millions and disabling millions. Fear-mongering has replaced science, and those who are resisting the lies are being fired or losing their livelihoods and businesses. This in fact prepares the world for the tyranny of the Antichrist, when not only will Satanic deception be at its greatest, but God will also send strong delusion upon mankind so that they will not be able to resist deception.

7. Satan and the Antichrist will deceive the world with mighty miracles, which are in fact "lying wonders". People will believe that the Man of Sin, the Son of Perdition is actually God and Christ, and will bow down and worship him.

8. However God has given the unholy Trinity only 3 1/2 years to deceive the world and damn souls to Hell. See Revelation 13 and related passages. After that God will pour out His divine judgments, and Christ will destroy all His enemies and establish His own eternal righteous Kingdom. He will establish everlasting righteousness on earth after the unholy Trinity is in the Lake of Fire.

In view of this, God has given Christians the Sword of the Spirit -- the Word of God -- to cut down all the lies of Satan. We often find Satan's minions on Christian forums promoting the doctrines of devils. They need to be cut down with Scripture. And the Bible says that those who choose to ignore the truth, will be blinded and deluded. We are not to be intimidated by the liars of the world, or the Chief Liar and Deceiver, who is also the Great Dragon. We have Christ in us and with us, and we also have the Holy Spirit in us and with us. And greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world (while the whole world lieth in wickedness).

I would remind everyone that the Antichrist is "a master of intrigue". Running the country behind a puppet like Biden, handing a fully equipped army over to Iran to try and seize control of the middle east. Working with globalists to undermine the US with BLM, Antifa activists. Using a bioweapon to push this vaccine and undermine the US economy. All the blame will be on Biden and he will step forward as some kind of great diplomatic voice in a time of chaos.

It is incredible how many people have misread the Bible and do not cut straight the Apostle Paul's words.

1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

Read Paul's words here, we will see the rebellion and the man of lawlessness revealed before the day of the Lord begins.

4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

This is future tense, you don't see this before the rapture, but you do see the man of lawlessness revealed and you do see the rebellion beforehand.

5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.

Many Christians don't like to talk about this topic because they misread what Paul says, but here he says that he talked about it when he was with them and this is a new church. He also says that those who are raptured (the ones who are gathered to the Lord) they are one with the Holy Spirit in restraining and holding back the evil one. That struggle can also be seen prior to the rapture and prior to the day of the Lord beginning. Not all Christians may be aware of the man of lawlessness, but they all should know the Holy Spirit, the one who restrains the lawlessness.

7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.

When the rapture takes place those who are holding back the lawlessness will be taken out of the way. At that point Satan will have a free run on the Earth.

8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.

Hold everything! Did you just see that? Those who are raptured are one with the Holy Spirit in restraining lawlessness and the lawless one. How do you battle an opponent if you can't see him? Also, they are raptured, the lawless one is not revealed to them at that point, he is revealed to the sleeping church. After the rapture all those who were asleep will wake up and see the lawless one.

It means that before the rapture you will see a titanic struggle between Christians who are "stopping the steal" just like the Lord said (preventing the house from being broken into). If you are part of the sleeping church you will not see the man of lawlessness and these Christians may appear to be the problem. But once the rapture takes place then you will see the man of lawlessness and you will wake up then, a little late, but better late than never.

It means that the mystery of lawlessness has been working for the last 2,000 years but only as the day approaches are they dragged out into the light like Leviathan caught on a very big fishing line with God's people pulling him out of the swamp.

There is no doubt that Biden and his ilk are driving this country even further from God's truth. But Biden doesn't claim to be from God, and the liberal agenda is clearly anti-God. And so the left deceives the world, but mostly so the unsaved.

But he is not alone. The right also deceives. The conservative embrace of self idolatry, mammon worship, abandonment of the sick and poor, and the lies and unfounded conspiracies - NONE of these are of God's truths. But these deceptions come from a party that claims to be of God. Thus the right deceives the elect, drawing them away from Truth while maintaining the illusion of truth.

Personally I can't condone supporting either side. But of the two, the right is more deceptive, in that they claim to be of God and therefore work to deceive the elect. Which is what 1 Timothy 4, Matthew 24, and Romans 16 specifically warn the elect about.

Can you be a little more specific as to the "unfounded conspiracies" that those who claim to be of God are pushing?

His spirit is indeed here - has been since Jesus ascended - and has many followers and promotors. What we see in the end as 'the antichrist' is just a final manifestation of generations of antichrists, on a much larger scale than ever before.

One quick example then I have to run - the whole stolen election thing is unfounded. Trumps own judges, his closest advisors, his most adamant sycophants have all told him he has no case. The Maricopa county audit just proved once again that he has no case. Yet again the truth is surrounded by unsubstantiated allegations of fraud. Biden's win was proven, the allegations were not. And yet what have the republicans glommed onto - once again the unproven allegations. When it comes down to proven truth or unproven conspiracies, Trump republicans hold to the conspiracy. The truth has no place with them as long as it doesn't agree with what they want to believe.

And that's just one example.

Are you talking about the phony claims Hillary Clinton made with the whole #notmypresident thing?

I'm talking about the religious right with their phony conspiracy theories, what do you have on that?

I'm not talking about the whole phony Russian collusion that Trump was accused of, or the phony accusation that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation or even the bogus impeachment over the January 6th riot which has now been shown to be a failed intelligence operation by the FBI. Those are not bogus conspiracy theories, they have all been proven true.

Likewise with the FISA warrant scandal of Obama spying on Trump, that also is true.

Swalwell is compromised by the CCP -- true.

Biden has been running a crime family for 30 years -- true

Biden, Kerry, Clinton and Obama are all in the fraud together -- true

57,000 ballots in the Arizona election were found to be bogus yet Biden won by only 10,000 votes -- true

Biden made the Taliban one of the best equipped militaries in the world -- true

We went to war in Vietnam thanks to a false flag event -- true

We went to war in the first gulf war thanks in part to a false flag event -- true

We went to war in the second gulf war due to WMDs, a false flag event -- true

Obama allowed the banks who had orchestrated the biggest theft and fraud on homeowners to skate without any criminal prosecutions -- true

The way I look at it is this:

We were told thousands of years ago that the world will end up in the hands of the antichrist. It is dangerously naïve to think that:

1. Righteous people will lead us there (ergo the ones leading us there are all unrighteous).
2. We can't vote/pray/stomp our feet to get out from under those prophesies.

Every. single. leader. we have, whether from the left or the right, is but a stepping stone to the antichrist. Bush 1 & 2, Obummer, Clintons, Trump, Biden - they are but steps along the path to that end. Not a single one of them will work to veer us from that path.

But again, while the left and the right both work to deceive, only one aims it's deception at believers.

And waaay too many believers are swallowing it, hook line and sinker.

I don't disagree with anything you have said, what I would say though is it is missing the key ingredient. Yes, we cannot get out from under those prophecies, but those prophecies are calling on us to repent and humble ourselves before the Lord.

This isn't about us stomping our feet, it is about us being one with the Holy spirit to restrain lawlessness.

These prophecies that you refer to vaguely talk about us preventing the house from being broken into, they liken believers to Esther and Mordecai (those in positions of authority and power and the deplorables on the street). Zechariah likens the end of the age to an old western movie with the Lord on His horse in the ravine with all the scouts reporting back to Him.

Yes, these things will all take place, you can't stop that but you can choose which side you are going to be on and there are not two sides, there are three -- you have the Lord and His army, Satan and His army, and all the rest of the people who are asleep or think they can be spectators.

The OP is about believers being deceived by false prophets and drawn away from God and His Truths in the last days. My point is that by hitching their wagons to the republican/conservative parties, believers are doing just that - being led astray by false prophets.

There seems to be this mindset that says if you reject the sins of the left you MUST embrace the right. It is my hope to show people they really should not align themselves with either side.

I got that and agree, but you don't have to attach yourself to the right or the left yet support the US constitution, demand accountability out of our leaders for Afghanistan, the border and the budget, and want to see a full forensic audit of the election so that the entire country can have the assurance that the elections are legitimate.

It doesn't matter if you have the full assurance that the elections were legitimate and that Biden did get 11 million more votes than Obama. 50% of the country doesn't believe that and that is good enough reason to do the audit.

God Warns us about a deception to come in the end. For sure the world is steeped in deceptions - So why would He warn us about a specific one? Let’s look at a few of these passages:

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits
and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy...

~
Matthew 24:3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” 4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.
...
10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
...
23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or ‘There he is!’, do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time. 26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.
~
Romans 16: 17 I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause division and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.
~
Mark 13:5 Jesus said to them:

Watch out that no one deceives you.

6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’

and will deceive many.
~

Three things to note out of that is; the warning is to His faithful, the purpose of the deception is to draw them away from Him. And it will be brought by people claiming to be from Him.

Some believe this speaks of the liberal agenda. Their sexual immorality, abdication of personal responsibility, the murder of the unborn, the promotion of self over others, and the restriction of personal freedoms are definitely drawing people away from God and His truths. But… this deception is aimed at the world, and it is drawing the world astray. And given their promotion of atheism and polytheism, the left certainly does not claim to be from God.

So the warning God gives us about a deception aimed at us, is not about the left.

There’s a fallacy ingrained into our subconscious that says if you can’t go left, you have to go right. And that would be on the surface the thing to do. Promote personal responsibility. Family values. Sexual purity. Freedom. The truth. And hey, the guys pushing these say they’re from God!

But deceptions don’t run on the surface. They’re an undercurrent, washing away the footing and foundations of what they seem to be supporting on the surface.

Underneath the surface of ‘personal responsibility’ flows self-idolatry and mammon worship. Family values don’t include an honest day’s wage or truly caring for the sick and poor. Sexual purity involves hating and shaming the impure. Freedom is individual at the expense of the greater good. Truth now includes conspiracies and is application specific.

On the left, you walk away from the truth knowing you’re walking away from the truth.

On the right, you walk away from the truth thinking you are the truth.

And only one side claims to be of God.

To deceive the elect says Matthew 24. That is what we are warned about. False prophets coming in Jesus Name to deceive the elect and draw them away from Him.

That’s what God’s warning to us is today.

Yes I agree

Keep away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

I agree in part. However, the real deception is a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. It has been around since the early 1900's. It is accompanied by supernatural signs that deceive some of the elect. Signs include uncontrollable shaking, rolling on the floor, making animal noises, being physically thrown around and visual effects such as auras and halos.

The last outbreak was in the 1990's with the co-called Toronto Blessing. One of the key signs of this deception is the over emphasis on the Holy Spirit and the de-emphasis of the Lord Jesus. One so-called prophet has claimed that the Holy Spirit is Lord. This is a false interpretation of one scripture. The rest of the New Testament makes it clear that Jesus is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. The tragedy is that many Christians are so ignorant that they believe the lie and even try to persuade others.

There is a lot of talk about another revival. On closer examination, it seems like a rerun of the Toronto Blessing. I'd be delighted if there was a real revival. But I've seen the devastation caused by the TB. I've seen nothing to suggest that God's people have woken up to it. I suspect that the next manifestation will be more deceptive as Satan has learned a few more tricks. We need to plead with God to keep us in reality and truth. He will honour that prayer.
