That's not what I was saying. Curious what makes you take it that way.

Every year, some Christians say we shouldn't celebrate Christmas because of it's pagan origins, and the fear that we are worshipping pagan gods if we do. We know we are not and celebrate freely, but for the sake of those for whom this is a stumbling block should we abstain?

If Paul was invited to dinner at someone's house that had a Christmas tree he would eat dinner there knowing that an idol is nothing. However, if his eating there were to offend some weaker saints he wouldn't eat. I agree with that.

To then assume that Paul would set up a Christmas tree himself in his house, that is definitely not portrayed by Paul in Corinthians.

Interesting point and certainly a valid one.

But because Paul never did something, are we then automatically barred?

The only problem with all this is that this was not the discussion at all.

The issue is we were told that if we do not celebrate the Lord's birth that we should not join in the discussion. Since several of us do celebrate the Lord's birth that did not seem to apply to us and yet the meaning was clear -- the Christmas tree is a celebration of Christ's birth. That isn't true, it is a celebration of the birth of Antichrist.

No one was stumbled, no one was saying you can't celebrate Christmas, we were simply stating the truth.
