In the meantime, have a song about perspective shifts. "So Much For My Sad Song."

I tend to burn out real quick on gospel and praise, I just can't listen to it all day every day. However, there's a lot of secular rock that does appeal to me BECAUSE it's not overtly Satanic. Yet, many question my integrity for listening to "Classic rock" stations...

I guess my question is, why can't "Christians" write normal every day music from a Christian perspective? Why aren't more Christians writing the opposite of most secular garbage out there today? Praise and worship is great for church, but what about every day life?
Likely because music in the Bible is to do with praise and worship.

Some music in the past has crossed the boundary between Christian and secular. Kenny Rogers, "Love lifted me", Noel Paul Stookey "The wedding song" ("Paul" from Peter, Paul and Mary), Keith Green, "Until your love broke through" to name a few.

Chris Rice wrote and performed a range of secular songs. A few of Michael Cards songs are not overtly Christian. Guy Sebastian is another. Some of Neil Diamond's songs are not overtly Christian but could be taken that way. Diamond is one of the most successful performers of all time.

So some performers/writers are doing as you ask. How you find them, I don't know.

The question Christians need to ask themselves is whether or not they are being edified. A lot of so-called Christian music is uninspired and uninspiring. Worldly music........... give me some earplugs.

Heh. Most of his secular ones were love songs.

Don't get me started on "Lemonade." :p

Psalm-1

1Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the [a]path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2But his delight is in the Law of the LORD,
And on His Law he meditates day and night.
3He will be like a tree planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season,
And its [c]leaf does not wither;
And [d]in whatever he does, he prospers.

4The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind blows away.
5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6For the LORD [e]knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked will perish.

Can't we Christians simply encourage one another, and celebrate even the opportunity to continue fighting the good fight?

I'd never heard of Chris Rice until late 2019. I was very ill in hospital. I found some of Chris Rice's songs on youtube, on my phone. They were a great help in a terrible time. I've not heard any of his secular stuff.

If you don’t know what it means to walk in the spirit,you will never know the power of music in fostering it,in this life there are only two spirits, no in-betweens,it’s either the Spirit of God or of the Devil,music is one of those things that affects the spirit directly,so with or without knowledge,music is done with the spirit behind it, it’s either from God or from the devil,if you enjoy secular music,chances are high you can’t walk with the spirit of God because it carries another spirit,just imagine an evil spirit troubles someone and another plays music and the evil spirit departs.1 Samuel 16:23 The problem with modern day Christianity is we think we can walk like the non believers and get Godly results in our comforts,that is why so many Christians today are living in worry,anxiety,sicknesses,depression,addictions etc The devil was the director of music in heaven and you wonder why his servants produce ‘good’ music, music is one of the major things done in heaven and you think it’s petty,if you can analyze what courses of life the devil has redefined through those secular musicians and trends he has made through them,you can’t ignore the power of music!I hear some people say gospel music is only good in church,I don’t know whether you are someone in church and you become another outside church,something has to be checked if you can’t praise or worship God all day long,how do you walk with God yet you delight in the ways of the devil???

When I read the Psalms, I get bold and uninhibited truth!
Not lukewarm, repetitive, droning, politically correct chanting to lull the congregation into uniform spirituality...

Real life is ugly! Jesus has obvious enemies...
I LOOK FORWARD TO THE LORD'S DAY OF RECKONING!

Why do most people believe that Christian music has to be "praise and worship"?
Because it is not supposed to be entertainment but praise and worship. Please take note: And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:,13,14)

What we see in Revelation 4 and 5 corresponds to this: And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created...

And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

Since when did churches begin to promote the idea that Christian music is entertainment, and start imitating the entertainers of the world? Was it after Rock 'N Roll took the world by storm?

Psalm 98....

Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord

1Oh sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvelous things!
His right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
2The Lord has made known his salvation;
he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.
3He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.
4Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
5Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody!
6With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!
7Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
the world and those who dwell in it!
8Let the rivers clap their hands;
let the hills sing for joy together
9before the Lord, for he comes
to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with equity.

Lol... Sounds like Rock-n-Roll to me! :cool:

Take a tip from the banana. Packed with all kinds of good things you need, but God made it to be appealing as well.

Ever write a song? If you have a message to get out, something burning in your heart that people need to hear, you want to use a style people will listen to.

Something to consider: Even the music you enjoy was once considered new and radical. I'm sure a lot of good, solid Christians derided it as "not real Christian music."

I'll pray for you

I wish I could say everything's OK and we'll all be fine in Gods' good time, but I don't think so anymore
The world is knocking at my door
They say come out and play, we can pray some other day
God don't listen anyway

I'll pray for you, you pray for me too, I know there's a God above and there's nothing he can't do
I'll pray for you

I wish I knew what to say to you without making you think I'm some kind of freak, but I can't tell you why I care
If I can't tell you to beware
There's too many beggars and too many thieves and I know you know what I mean, the only answer's on our knees

I'll pray for you, you pray for me too, you know there's a God above and there's nothing he can't do
I'll pray for you

I wish I could say everything's OK and we'll all be fine in Gods' good time, but I don't think so anymore
My innocence has drowned and washed up on the shore
I know there will come a day when God will have his own way
And this old world wont be the same
I wish I could find my peace of mind when somebody says they're better off dead.......

I'll pray for you, you pray for me too, you know there's a God above and there's nothing he can't do
I'll pray for you

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto,
Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum.
Amen.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, unto the age of ages
Amen.

Nice tune. Good lyrics.

Add a drum line and a hard guitar (probably coming in right after "God don't listen anyway") and tighten up the phrasing a bit and you could sell this.
