I bailed on Klayton after Disengage. Though i do have copies of the Trilogy albums he did with Kriss Angel. But i love his original stuff, Brainchild and COD. Have you heard his death/thrash band, Immortal, before he went industrial? It was pretty good stuff.
I actually saw COD/Brainchild at a church show. I was friends with a buddy who was in a local band, and he was friends with another local band that was opening the show, so we all got in with the opening band, and were backstage. Never saw Scott Albert show his face, even to the opening band.
Also, the whole vibe of the show was horrible. Soon as we pulled up and got out of the car, a couple of us commented how heavy and dark it felt, just the sense in the air. It was a pretty forgettable show, with the highlight, sadly, being the guy in the pit who kept trying to start fights til they kicked him out. Was kind of funny he got kicked out for trying to fight after the song Deviate.

Sinai Beaches Immersed was great, but the rest of their stuff was kind of bland and cookie cutter boring.

I remember first hearing POD from Snuff The Punk, then after that they released Brown, those were some great CD's. I liked their first few mainstream releases, but then they got too mainstream and singy and lost a lot of their edge. And they really became questionable about things.

POD's newest definitely has some questionable stuff on it, on the other hand though they have some wicked cool songs on it.

Yeah I have the Trilogy stuff with Criss Angel as well. I actually have a signed copy of the 1st cd when they called themselves Angeldust. I had never heard Immortal,but heard about them. I agree about the Sinai Beach cd..that's the only one I have as well. P.O.D. I never followed much. I owned Snuff the Punk & Fundamental Elements of Southtown,but got rid of those ages ago,as there were only a few tracks on each I liked. They have always been that way for me...a song here & there I enjoy.
That 1st Celldweller release was pretty cool. Switchback was destined to be a hit. Great hook in that tune for sure. I still like his music,even though he's obsessed with dubstep now...he's still not as repetitious as say Skrillex.

Zaoman - yeah, on this last CD they had planned on dropping an f-bomb, and actually did record a version of the song with the f-bomb in it. But in the end they decided not to put it in, i think because they knew of the backlash, but it still leaked and i think it damaged their rep among some Christians.

Lemme see.....some of these bands open for the big-time worldly metal bands....... & the worldly fans love them. They do seem to fit in quite well..... just sayin' :rolleyes:

Do they really preach or witness on the other band's stage? If they don't, the people heard nothing. I know none of those worldly bands will let them do it........ clauses-in-the-contract kind of thing. Any band knows in advance what they can/cannot do. If they don't like their rules, they don't go onstage.

Though their message may not be spoken, it is sung in their lyrics. I know of several people who have gotten saved because of these bands. So whether you believe they actually have a message or not...they do, just because it's not spoken doesn't mean it's not there.

A band like Antestor I have a difficult time calling anything but a ministry. Their name means ministry, and the entire purpose of Antestor's being was to sing Christ-filled songs, and minister to music fans who were listening to predominantly satanic music.

I can definitely agree that there are a lot of these bands who take their position for granted. They are christian bands solely just to be a band, and happen to write christian lyrics because that is what they know. In which case, I agree, the message is pointless. But some, as the band I have previously mention, speak a true and genuine message through their lyrics, and do lead people to the Lord. And others, such as Flyleaf, who have blatantly christian lyrics, the band also has a song where they make mention in one song that though the music sounds the same, backstage they whisper prayers for the crowd.

If even just one person in a crowd of hundreds pulled out a christian message that would change their life...wouldn't that be worth it?

There is a line that can be crossed. You and I both agree that many have done it.
Ephesians 5:11 [SUP]11 [/SUP]And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

For example, I wouldn't go to Ozzfest to sing a single gospel song on their stage. But I might stand outside and pass out tracts and talk to people about the Lord.

Then you obviously don't know anything, because i've seen countless Christian bands in secular settings preach. So, so much for that theory. Ever heard the bible say 'be all things to all men'? Are you living that out? Are you being someone that listens to this music can relate to? I bet not judging by your attitude. So if you're too busy preaching to the average 'normal' person, who's reaching out to the outcasts of society? Oh, that's right, Jesus was, along with many of these bands. So you stay in your little bubble and ignore the fringe people, and let people with a real understanding go out and reach these people.

By the way, a recently a Christian band started a tour, they went to Brazil, where 100 people attacked the band outside the place they played. Whens the last time you and 4 others had to take on 100 people persecuting you for your beliefs?

We were having a nice conversation here, if you don't like the topic, don't come in, let us continue our conversations and leave us be. I'm so sick of people like you coming into these forums and ruining them. Take your judgment back to the bible forums with the rest of them.

I don't know much about the Christian metal scene but I enjoy Flyleaf, Skillet and some Demon Hunter and Living Sacrifice. I love P.O.D too but they're not metal.
The non-Christian metal bands I enjoy are Led Zeppelin, Nightwish, Eluveitie, Evanescence, Orphaned Land, Tristania and Within Temptation (many of these explore Judeo-Christian beliefs).

Stephen, don't underestimate what Christian witness can do. For example P.O.D (not a metal band) have played at Ozzfests and the like and their songs and behaviour backstage have got many other bands thinking about God and what exactly makes P.O.D. so different from the usual. It may not be yours or my mission to go to Ozzfest and witness but don't talk about the bands like you know anything about them. Personally, I think tracts do little, but if they do anything to convict, it's the Holy Spirit. People thirst for relationships. The best way to draw people to Christ, is to get to know them as people, show through your actions that you live what you speak and then they'll be more willing to accept anything you have to say about God's work in your life.

Within Temptation is metal? I listen to her and didn't realize that's what they were classified as.

I need to be able to classify my music better, I suppose. :eek:

The only song I've heard by Nightwish is "Last of The Wilds" and I love it because I like Celtic music and I especially love it when it's combined with rock elements.

Yeah your right. :) Sometimes words aren't enough, to convince someone. But it's how people see your life that affects them from God's work.

If you like those two, get their newest one, Imaginarium. There are two songs in particular, "Rest Calm" and "The Owl, The Dove, and The Swan" (at least I think that's the title to the second, or something like it). But the bassists vocals on both of those tracks are absolutely insane, and they're phenomenal songs to top it off.

To be honest I haven't heard much outside of those three albums, but you should definitely like Imaginarium if you like those two.
