I'm also thinking of parents with kids who might refuse to eat things for what seems to be the most ridiculous reasons, but to the child, it makes perfect sense!
There are things I won't eat just because I don't like their appearance. Artichokes, Brussels sprouts, those purple things in fresh produce. One day my daughter asked me to prepare Brussels sprouts for dinner. Apparently she had them somewhere and liked them very much. I told her that not only would I not prepare them, I wouldn't even purchase them for her. When asked why, I didn't really have a good answer other than that's one of a few things I won't eat. She was not happy with me. I figure at my age I don't really need a reason for my choices.

I actually *gasp* prefer the taste of Miracle Whip in tuna/chicken salad rather than regular old mayo
What's the difference between the two? I've never looked at the ingredients, just figured they were the same thing with a different name. Guess I'll have to look at the Miracle Whip ingredients next time I'm in the grocery store.

You are directly against her all the way. She can't stand the stuff.
I enjoyed the small bite of the unroasted cashew butter just fine.

It was the color that did me in. Since it reminded of a specimen jar, my brain kept associating the color with the scent of formaldehyde.

My sight, smell, and taste buds were not aligning, because my mind was expecting it to smell - and taste - like rubbing alcohol when I opened the jar.

Once when I was a kid, mom had a birthday party with strawberry cake and barbecue potato chips. That was the day my system decided to get a particularly virulent (almost violent) strain of stomach virus. I still remember puking off the side of the porch over and over.

For about 14 years after that I was not able to even smell artificial strawberry flavoring or barbecue potato chips. I still loved strawberries, strawberry jam, anything that had real strawberries in it, and barbecue was still delicious. It was just artificial strawberry flavoring in anything, and barbecue potato chips. They would make me feel nauseous.

Eventually it cleared up. I can eat artificial strawberry flavoring and barbecue potato chips again without feeling even slightly queasy.
I had a lot of stomach issues as a kid for whatever reason. I wasn't eating and so they sent me to have my stomach checked. Ever have to drink that junk before an ex-ray? Shoot, got to look it up...nope I remember, barium!! UGH!! Like trying to swallow cement mix!! I was a good kid so I was trying to obey and drink it but big fat tears were rolling down my cheeks. I got enough down that someone took mercy on me and said it was enough. The flavor, strawberry. I couldn't even look or smell anything strawberry flavored. I was about ten when that happened and just now I can tolerate strawberry ice cream without turning green.

Milk chocolate is good, but it's increasingly hard to find chocolate cows.
With all the campaigns going on to save/repopulate endangered species, I am dismayed that more is not being done to save the chocolate cows! 🍫🐮

I mean, priorities here people!
