the Hebrew of Genesis calls all animals "living souls" with "the breath of life in them" with exactly the same language that it says the same thing about Adam.
translators put "living creature" instead whenever exactly the same language wasn't describing people. we think that because God set us above all the others, that we're "souls" and they're not.
they're not people. but they are God's creation, in whom He breathed, just like us. we shouldn't treat them like they're just a piece of property or a toy.
