In the UK we have 490 known cases but up to 10,000 people could be infected according to one report.

They are saying more than likely everyone will be exposed eventually and that it will probably return next year. All they are doing is trying to slow it down in order to get a vaccine tested, and to try and contain the spread hopefully until the season of the virus is over. As it grows we will likely see Churches revert to live podcasts or video messages in order to protect their congregation.

This is only a season and it will pass. We just have to pray, stay calm, follow the medical procedures and as a Nation we heal and survive as one.

I know,

But it's very serious and some people here are trying to minimise the risk.
I think people are trying to keep things in perspective presently, there are a lot of unknowns and conjecture does not help.

People need to stop fear mongering. Things are nowhere near as bad as they are being portrayed by the members of the press and some politicians.

For the latest US updates on the corona virus go to www.cdc.gov.

Some people are just worried about ££$$ as usual.

Not that people are actually dying, but that their business will go down the drain and they wont be rich anymore.

As Chrstians we have nothing to fear...and this people ought to know. Hand sanitiser and masks wont save you, but Jesus will. In every situation.

You can predict all the worst case economic scenarios all the time. People have been doing that forever, and saying the oil will run out, the planet is going to burn up, the rivers are polluted, locusts are eating our crops, pesticides are in our food, cancer is eating people alive...aids is spreading and everyone could be infected...terrorists are on the loose...

It is not likely that one thing will cause everyone to die as people do die everyday in wars and famines and pestilence and earthquakes etc.

But this is where you can say...Jesus loves you and is the only name by which we can be saved.so even when we die we can be assured of eternity where there is no sickness or tears. wHat could be more precious? How about casting out that fear and doing some LOVEmongering instead.

False, there has only been 197 people in Italy die from this virus, and in one day the greatest has been 49.
Here is an article for you.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-51777049

https://www.bbc.com/news/health-51674743

Please read up and get educated.

Fear mongering is not becoming of a Christian.
I'm in the UK and you're posting news that's over a week old.

Being sensible isn't fear mongering. It's possible to go OTT in either direction.
It's not a Christian attribute to pretend there is no sickness, death or need in the world.

I agree.
The latest on the BBC web site is that Italy has had 5,000 new reported cases in the last 2 days and the Telegraph reports over 1,000 deaths to date.

Italy made too many mistakes, numbers will increase exponentially.

The USA has made big mistakes ..... it will have numbers increase exponentially.

Japan dealt with it very well its numbers not increasing exponentially.

as did South Korea, except for some fool who went to a mega church and started the spread all over again.

this is worse than the recent measles epidemic.. as there is no vaccination but again, just be sensible.
Any symptoms just stay home.

I dont go to church when Im feeling unwell. I dont work when Im feeling unwell either.

I do know that there are people that push others and themselves to work no matter what. If a leader of a country advises the wrong thing, peoples lives are at risk. If someone is more concerned about money than sense, this is what they will do.

we have people trying to make a buck out of it. airlines are putting up prices of airfares because people are cancelling flights and insurances are not paying out because people are being sensible and not choosing to travel, but they cannot get a refund, as they havent actually gotten sick.

Prevention is better than cure. But its like anything, some people will still choose to smoke and drink even though they know its harmful to themselves and others, and will die from it, but they cant or wont give it up.

Calm down everyone.

Luke 12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
Luke 12:5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Luke 12:6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
Luke 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

I don't know....I just feel we need to practice more hand washing and more use of hand sanitisers. And being aware not to use our unwashed hands to touch our faces.
So all you have to do is install a hand sanitizer dispenser at the entrance with a posted sign, and request an announcement that all who enter sanitize their hands. Personal hygiene should be a given, but since that is not always the case, signs can be posted in washrooms also.

Well reality has struck. My daughter's High school has been closed until further notice! And all this time I never understood why most of her classes post online. Now I am so grateful...

Meaning of Namaste:

The word, Namaste seems to come from the more pantheistic forms of Hinduism that sees everything and everyone as god. It is the view that god is rock, god is a tree, god is the sky, or god is a squirrel.

In other words, it means “The divine in me bows to the divine in you,” or the “God in me bows to the God in you.”

They tell people to not handshake as a way of making people feel that they can do something to avoid this virus.. But as we all know the virus spreads in the air in dropletts people breath in.. So aviding a hand shake has no reall effect.. Of course people should wash their hands before a meal and not be touching their face with unclean hands.. That should be a normal daily policy virus or no virus..

This virus is now unstoppable so sooner or later people are going to get it.. People should just go about living their lives and pray for Gods will to be done.. If one survives then so be it.. If one dies then they will be with the LORD, so be it.. His will be done.. No fear, No stress..
I agree daily washing and sanitation should be the normal.

I like what you said about going about living their lives and I think it is wise not to be consumed by all the media coverage.

so far the Day isn’t over yet
20,795Communicable disease deaths today
778Seasonal flu deaths today
12,176Deaths of children under 5 today

There were some people discussing the toilet paper shortage and people not shaking hands as a result of the corona virus on Facebook. One man said he wouldn't shake hands because people weren't using toilet paper
Agree, as it stands now this virus is no more virulent than other strains except that it does have a longer incubation period.
There are two strains presently, one more virulent.

If it there is more mutation then it could become more deadly.
I'm not sure how they calculate it. Using the Johns Hopkins map to get death and recovery rates, adding deaths/(deaths+recovered), I get close to 50% mortality in parts of Italy and over 13% in Iran. In China it is closer to 5 or 6%. I excluded active cases because we do not know how those will turn out. There is the problem of unreported cases of people who do not know they have it, and if the disease kills a disproportionate number of people off early, my calculations could be off.

Here is a good website, tracking this virus, hopefully somewhat accurately.
I think the medical community is learning more about this virus over time... being new it takes time to understand it.

In the UK the government is now asking all those over 70 and those of any age with underlying health problems to go into self isolation for 12 weeks. These are the most vulnerable groups and they want to avoid the NHS being overwhelmed with people needing treatment.

Certainly things are getting worse by the hour.
Europe is pretty much like when a nation is at war.

I'm not sure or can speak for what the COVID-19 outbreak is like for other countries, but for the US people have taken this a bit too far. Sure there are people that are more susceptible to a more serious strain of this virus so they should stay home and/or talk to their employer of what they can do from home if anything. They shouldn't be touching people and keeping their paws to themselves and if they must touch someone else or use something that is shared use hand sanitizer first. Do not cough or sneeze without doing it in your arm and wash your hands immediately and then use sanitizer and resume what you were doing, people would at least respect you if you were trying to keep your germs to yourself. But the media needs to stop talking about it. The only people that need to be sharing any updates are the CDC leaders, governors and our Presidents. The media has spiraled this way out of control to where people are completely freaked out because as they tell you when you are looking for something hard enough you generally find it. We can be aware without being paranoid about this COVID-19 outbreak here in the US.
