That's the typical Calvinistic spin on the matter. But just the third chapter of John puts the lie to that. And these are the words of Christ:
JOHN 3
THE BRAZEN SERPENT IS A TYPE OF CHRIST
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
CHRIST DIED FOR THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
THEREFORE THE WHOLE WORLD MAY BE SAVED
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
BUT ALL WILL NOT OBEY THE GOSPEL
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Now the question you should ask yourself after reading the plain words of Christ is "Should I believe the Lord Jesus Christ (the Son of God) or mere men who have distorted the truth?"

John 1:12-13 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
3:3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Just to show how off course you are, everything I quoted is from the Bible and you bring up John Calvin, I never quoted him once and what I did not quote from the Bible I showed you Scripture that show where I got the teaching from, but it seems that you believe that what the Bible says that you do not like were written by John Calvin, no they were quotes fron John's Gospel, not John Calvin. You just cannot glorify God for your salvation you want to take the credit for what God has done for His people. It seems you have not seperated yourself from the world yet, because you keep associating yourself with them.
Again from the Gospel of John not John Calvin, John 6:63, 65 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.....65 And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.
Your problem are with these verse are others, they are not with me or John Calvin, you need to understand that man can not save himself, only God can save and Him alone. You think man is good when we are not.
Luke 18:19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
Romans 3:9-18
What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, 10 as it is written:
“None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God.
12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”
13 “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.”
“The venom of asps is under their lips.”
14 “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 in their paths are ruin and misery, 17 and the way of peace they have not known.”
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
I Corinthians 2:14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
