This position isn't that the gifts were NEVER valid, or that the Holy Spirit doesn't work today.

That is a non-christian teaching.

The Holy Spirit still guides,teaches,rebukes, convicts, encourages, can be offended.. seals believers... is in the midst of a local church... is fully God... etc..

Anyway... repeating myself. Point being the cessation position isn't denying the Holy Spirits power, but honoring that God doesn't work the same way all thru history with people.

the perfect in 1cor chapter 13 verses 8 -10 do not say the word Canon does it? That is assumed. FYI is the canonization is the completed word of God 1cor chapter 12 through 14 which are on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit were Canonized also. Your point is unfounded.

The Holy Spirit knows what HE is doing when HE ministers the Gifts according to His will.

What Gift did the Father pour out on Pentecost? = Tongues

What Gift is guaranteed to edify His Sons = Tongues

What Gift is the least and therefore was made First = Tongues

What Gift do i recommend to everyone = the one that the Holy Spirit gives you.

i speak and pray in Tongues and, as it is written, it is a hidden/private prayer directly to God that strengthens my walk with the Lord.

Now, if my spirit and soul and mind is strengthened by His Gift to me - then i am better able to encourage and edify others as i myself am edified by and through the Holy Spirit who gave to me this Gift. The Lord prayed this prayer for Himself - John 17

Take note that i agree with the Apostle who said: "I wish you all spoke in Tongues".
