I literally yelled out, "Stupid!" when I watched his explanation of how "faith healers" grow out legs. My own sister had one foot shorter than the other about an inch, and she had always had problems with her hips. Well one day an evangelist prayed for her legs and the leg grew out to the length of the other before many people's eyes. She says still to this day she checks them, just in awe.

The problem with this logic is that in most of the videos of legs growing out they aren't wiggling the person's legs up and down like in the video in order to get the shoe back on. Thats where he messed up, the bouncing up and down doesn't happen in the videos. They literally hold their feet up and press somewhat firmly against the heels and then the leg matches the other due to God. This man's explanation is laughable, where as in the street healing videos you don't see any cues as to a trick.

The video says, "Posted for educational purposes". Yes, how to spot a fake, but if you compare his magic trick to that of genuine healing you can easily tell they look nothing alike. There is no bouncing of the legs in order to slide the shoe back on.
In the full version he also "heals" the blind and the deaf.

Many of the ways he shows are used by false healers on a daily basis. He also cooperates with Christians who left the movement and say why.

The only thing we can look at is our own lives.

Paul didn't actually correct other churches, he corrected churches he planted and he had oversight on.

1 Co 4:15 For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

A lot of people love to figure out what's wrong with other churches, but I don't live for that. I live to bring my own life into obedience of His good will. And those He brings to me, I disciple like He commands. That they also would be lead by the Spirit of God.
Well, in that case we could not discuss anything, Drugs, abortions etc, because we personally have no experience with it.

Ask yourself the following questions:

What is God? .. a man with a long white beard ?

What fulfills the Law? .. the cops ?

What is the Command of Christ for new believers? .. to speak in tongues ?

What does Paul say we are and have nothing if we don't possess? .. pass

What is the first fruit of the Spirit? .. I know this one .. apples

What builds up and edifies the church according to Scripture? .. everybody speaking in tongues and raising the dead ?

What does Paul say that the more we know of, the more we are filled with God? .. ummm .. helium ?

Did I pass ?

We need to remember that the Corinthians did not have a copy of the NT as we do today when they did all that prophesying. The church today can still have prophecy, however we need to bear in mind that everything we need to know from God has been given us in the NT and the last word was Revelation. There is NO new doctrine past Revelation. Prophecy today is mostly for encouragement...so be very careful about what somebody says in prophecy because many Christians have had their lives messed up by listening to a prophecy by someone. If you have the Holy Spirit then God is well able to speak directly to you and does not need a middle man.

Actually, can you show me what was the important message for the church in the video?

How were the ones listening to it built spiritually in their lifes by it?
I would assume that question applies to we who watch the video, as well.

I would say a tongue which is prophecy is twofold.

We could no longer separate tongues from prophecy any more then could we seperate faith from works. No new prophecy, no new tongues.

Twofold. One is used as an outward sign.... it reveals rebellion. It came from a promise in Isiah 28:12 exposing the Jews as false prophets. And two, the manner of tongues (prophecy) as that which quickened the soul of three thousand that day.

We neither attribute to Peter the prophecy spoken through Christ or the translation that the Holy spirit interpreted in other languages. The sign of tongues was not for them that did become saved that day. It confirmed their unbelief

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. Isa 28:12

It was a sign to those who believed not. (no faith) No such thing as an outward sign to indicate the person is with God. It was given because they did required a sign before they would believe.

1Co 14:22 Wherefore "tongues are for a sign", not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: "but prophesying "serveth
not for them that believe not, but for them which believe

One takes away the little they thought they have the other adds new spirit life. No such thing as a sign gift we walk by faith not after signs.

Indeed. BTW I am watching that document from Derren Brown (was it you who posted some scene from it?).

Very interesting. Like the one who wrote a false name on the paper before the service and the pastor got "from God" his name - yeah, the fake one from the paper.

They also "healed" everybody in the street who accepted their offer.

I would say if we have the perfect we need to know from God has been given us in the NT and the last word was Revelation. today to prophesy is to declare the word of God (prophecy )God is no longer adding so if any man today says the Lord said this or that as new prophecy we are to believe not.

A true prophet would be one that does not add or subtract form the now perfect.

That's a huge problem because Holy Spirit is our teacher. And if He isn't speaking we have a huge issue. Because we exist off every word that proceeds out of His mouth not once proceeded out of His mouth. This idea that God isn't speaking anymore is NO WHERE in Scripture. How do you plan to be lead by the Spirit? By Scripture? No. You are lead by interpretations and traditions of man if you don't have the Spirit of God illuminating His word for you. And if He is illuminating His word, He is still speaking. He doesn't say anything that contradicts His written word, but He does indeed speak.

YES the Holy Spirit certainly is our teacher, but HE is not speaking in the Charismatic tongues. SO YES, you have a HUGE ISSUE. The Holy Spirit would NEVER condone disobeying GOD, (let the women be silent in the Churches}, yet you all condone violating that command.

OK, we walk by faith and not by sight, if we are expecting the Holy Spirit to personally tell us by a voice in the mind what to do, we are going to have problems. This is my problem with Pentecostalism...people in this movement are often times following a deceiving spirit that they believe is God. People will say, what I heard agreed with the scriptures, well, the deceived human mind is quite capable of convincing itself that the bible agrees with what it wants to do. If a person really has the Spirit then all they have to do is read and believe the bible and practice it...you do not have to "listen" for the Spirit to guide you. If God chooses to speak to you He will and if not so be it.

This thread is thirty four pages long and no one has answered the question.

What is the benefit of speaking in tongues? I can see absolutely no reason for God to use them.

Tell me something honestly, WAS GOD HEALING IN ANSWER TO FERVENT PRAYER?

Or was it the Faith Healer wielding power he supposedly possessed?

James 5:16 (NKJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Well as I just now saw your question I will say what benefit I see.
The enemy cannot do ANYTHING against it as its by the spirit and not by the flesh.
Tadaa :)

While talking/praying in tongues you can receive revelation and insight---it will also build up your faith--strengthen your inner man---you are communing with God about things you don't even know how to express in English---I've tried it for 40 years---I believe in strong Bible education and knowledge---but things in the Spirit have to be experienced (tested)---it is awesome...
