"Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.” 22
When He had said this, He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit."
This is in John 20. They had the Holy Spirit before the lots fell the Matthias.
There were
not to depart Jerusalem before receiving the baptism of Power by the Holy Spirit. He did not say "don't do anything".
Why do you read it as "don't do anything".
yeah that’s a figure showing a
new beginning it references this
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
Genesis 2:7 KJV
but is your point they had already received the Holy Spirit before pentocost ?
“The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given
commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
And, being assembled together with them,
commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”
Acts 1:1-2, 4-5
“And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Acts 1:7-8 KJV
that happened here when Peter started prophecy of of Christ
“And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Acts 2:3-4 KJV
are we now saying they had already received the Holy Ghost before pentocost seems we are going backwards
