I am also talking about today. Not ALL Baptists claim to be Protestant.
I am sure you can find exceptions about anything these days. The idea is that most Baptists today to my knowledge are Protestants. But I am really not that interested if you want to debate it. My focus is the Bible and not the intricacies of some church I disagree with strongly involving Soteriology.

But it is history written by men. I prefer the Bible. It is far more beneficial.

I am aware of the beliefs of the various different churches out there. Pretty much most of them got it wrong on sin and salvation.
Then again, Jesus said narrow is the way, and FEW be there that find it.
Granted, there will be a great revival in the Tribulation, mind you.

I. Fall Away List of Verses:

If we are never in jeopardy when we sin, then the Bible would not teach that we can fall away from the faith; But it does teach that we can fall away.

In fact, Paul is against Eternal Security or a sin and still be saved type belief. For Paul says,

  1. We can fall from grace (Galatians 5:4).

  2. We can be moved away from the hope (Colossians 1:23).

  3. We can be a castaway (1 Corinthians 9:27).

  4. We can be cut off just like the Jews if we do not continue in God’s goodness (Romans 11:20-22).

  5. We can sow to the flesh and reap corruption instead of sowing to the Spirit which reaps everlasting life. (Galatians 6:8).

  6. We can deny God by a lack of good works (Titus 1:16).

  7. We can shipwreck our faith (1 Timothy 1:19).

  8. We can deny the faith and be worse than an infidel if we do not provide for our own household (1 Timothy 5:8).

  9. We can err from the faith and pierce ourselves thru with many sorrows if we love and covet after money (1 Timothy 6:10).

  10. Hymnenaeus and Philetus have overthrown the faith of some (2 Timothy 2:18).

These things would not exist in Scripture if things are as OSAS folk say.

II. Serious Sin Can Separate Us From GOD Verses:

[God said to Adam,]
"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." (Genesis 2:17).

[Eve said to the serpent,]
"But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. (Genesis 3:3).

And the serpent said unto the woman,
"Ye shall not surely die." (Genesis 3:4).

"...she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked..." (Genesis 3:6-7).

Important Note: If you were to look at 1 Thessalonians 4:3 you would learn that the will of God (i.e. the Father) is to be holy or it is our sanctification; And Hebrews 12:14 says, without holiness no man shall see the Lord.

III. Verses on Sanctification Being a Part of Salvation.

Bonus Point:

We are told:

“...We are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.” (Hebrews 3:13-14).

"Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." (Jude 1:21).

"...be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." (Revelation 2:10).


We are told to:

  1. Continue in the grace of God (Acts of the Apostles 13:43).

  2. Continue in the faith (Acts of the Apostles 14:22) (Colossians 1:23).

  3. Continue in his goodness, otherwise we can be cut off (just like the Jews were cut off) (Romans 11:21-22).

This does not sound like it is automatic or a walk in the park. Paul says he fought the good fight of faith, and he kept the faith. So Eternal Security is not true. We are not kept against our will and neither are forced into some kind of transformation whereby we can only do good. We are told to continue in His goodness, etc.

As a former RC and Charismatic/Pentecostal I would say that is indeed the root of the difficulties for many of them, the false gospel of works.

As soon as people are told that their Salvation does not depend on the finished work of Christ and that they can lose their salvation then they'll ask how they can lose their salvation. The RCC has created many questionable un-biblical teachings to answer this, as obviously the Bible cannot give an answer to a process that doesn't exist. The RCC came up with things like Mortal Sin, Purgatory, Indulgences and the like. With no assurance of Salvation, driven by unbiblical works. As for Charismatics, I was at a meeting where it was presented that a lady prophetess had been allegedly taken up to heaven and showed that those who didn't tithe to their church would lose their salvation and go to Hell. With an unbiblical gospel of works sadly many have to make this sort of stuff up.
Well, the gospel is 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. The gospel is believing that Christ died for your sins, He was buried, and risen the third day for your salvation. That’s the gospel. No more, and no less. It is how we first get initially saved, and it is also something we continue to believe the rest of our Christian life. But that’s not our only instructions.
But there is no such thing as a gospel of works.

Anyway, your point or experience doesn’t really relate because if the Bible requires you to do good works as a part of God’s plan of salvation (and it does - See again my list of verses here), then it would totally be different or foreign to the works of Catholics, and Charismatics. Your experience does not trump Scripture or God’s Word. See, that is the problem with the Charismatics. They go by experience and not the Bible. So again, I challenge you to not be like them, and take up your sword, and address the verses I posted little by little, if you can. For Isaiah 55:8 says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD."

I was not born again yesterday. I was saved back in 1992.
Since 2010/2011, I have been discussing this topic for many years involving the Bible.
The more I studied and prayed on this topic, the more God has revealed to me in His Word.
I have talked to countless Christians both in person and online on the topic of OSAS and or a sin and still be saved type belief.
I heard all the excuses and the verses.
But if you were to be objective, really objective, and look back in this thread and read, you would notice that the OSAS believer was the one who came up with the crazy odd ball explanations that go beyond the plain reading of the verses presented that challenge their belief. Then again, I have seen this many times before. So its nothing new for me.
I even had a guy once who tried to explain away Galatians 5:19-21 by saying it was talking about inheriting (recruiting) believers.
Utter nonsense. I cannot even begin to tell you of the many ways people will justify sin by slicing and dicing up the Scriptures with crazy hair brained ideas. So yeah. They are definitely inserting OSAS into the text (eisegesis), and they are not allowing the text to speak for itself (exegesis).

So naturally she would have been forgiven when she sought forgiveness. Jesus merely states that she has been forgiven.

She was not committing sin in the present and Jesus said, you are forgiven of this sin you currently doing. That’s not what was taking place. Are you of the belief that a Christian can sin and still be saved without confessing and forsaking that sin?

If so, then what about George Sodini? Was he saved? He killed a few people, and then took his own life with his gun. Yet, he stated in his suicide letter (so-to-speak) that he was saved by a belief alone in Jesus despite his crimes. Even his church said he was saved despite the evil that he did. You can learn more about this here, and here. The thing is that he said the same things OSAS folk say here.

What you fail to understand about Paul is that he was attacking the heresy of circumcision salvationism. In Acts 15:1, Acts 15:5, and Acts 15:24, we learn that certain Jews were trying to deceive Gentile Christians to be circumcised to be saved and to keep the Laws of Moses. The conclusion of the apostles at this council was that they did not have to keep the Laws of Moses (i.e., the Old Law or the 613). Meaning, if a person thought they had to first be circumcised to be saved, they would be making works the entrance gate and foundation of their salvation. Paul fought against this heresy. Paul said if you seek to be circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing in Galatians 5:2 (See also: Galatians 2:3, Galatians 5:6, Galatians 6:15, 1 Corinthians 7:18-19, Romans 2:28-29, Romans 3:1, Romans 4:9-12, Acts of the Apostles 21:21). This is clear that he was referring to Initial Salvation if you simply read the context of Ephesians 2, and Titus 3.

#2. Jesus Himself regarded just looking at a woman once as an act of adultery (Matthew 5:28).

#3. John says, "No murderer has eternal life abiding in them." (1 John 3:15).

#4. Proverbs 6:32 says, "Whosoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: he that does it destroys his own soul."

#5. Jesus Himself says that just looking at a woman in lust (Which is adultery) is potential for a person to be cast bodily in hell fire (See Matthew 5:28-30).

#6. David needed to confess his sin in order to be forgiven (See Psalms 51).

#7. 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

#8. Revelation 21:8 says, "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Murderers and whoremongers will be cast into the lake of fire. All liars will be cast into the lake of fire. ALL liars, and not just some. NO murderer has eternal life abiding in them (1 John 3:15).

So what you say is not true.

There are many consequences of actions, many teachers try to throw all of them together as if they were all synonymous with 'losing your salvation'.
The Bible does teach that a believer can lose their salvation. There are many ways to demolish OSAS (Once Saved Always saved), Eternal Security, and or Perseverance of the Saints (POTS).

  1. Fall Away List of Verses.

  2. Serious Sin can Separate Us From God Verses.

  3. Verses on Sanctification Being a Part of Salvation (Part 1) (and Part 2).

  4. Obeying God’s Commands as a Part of Eternal Life Verses.

It’s not lazy or sinful sheep who cannot be snatched out of His hand.

They may either hold my opinion or reject it and continue to follow your teaching or reject it. I will not entertain your opinions any further nor does must I do continue to do so. Satan offered misleading representations of scripture in order that Jesus would show Himself faithless, by offering Him doubt with, "Didn't scripture say...?" That might've worked in the garden, but it failed miserably in the desert.

It's very much a back to front mentality the anti Osas doctrine.

They all claim to be saved which means as of this point there salvation feals assured to them, however they say God could cut them off in the future.

On the grounds that they no longer will abide in Christ or commit a grave sin or no longer repent, all theese things etc.

The back to front part is, if your saved surely you have tasted the fruits surely you know right from wrong, surely the holy spirit will convict you and surely you must be blessed with the fruits or the spirit,

But most of all surely you must have confidence in yourself to not sin a grave sin in the future, or that you will never not abide in Christ, or that you will never fail to repent.

I'm sure this confidence must be automatic for the saved follower of Christ.

I would have thought any other type of mentality would be bordering on a reprobate mind, you know Like the feeling God has left you, as this back to front mentality would be this way inclined if God had left you.

This back to Front mentality is coming from these anti Osas doctrines even tho it hasn't happened for them,

Why argue about a what if. Where is the faith in so much doubt.

Backing John 15:6 is the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14-30, the Parable of the Minas in Luke 19:11-27, Matthew 7:26-27 (cf. Ephesians 2:10), and Titus 1:16. There is nowhere in Scripture that describes the fanciful OSAS interpretations in trying to explain away John 15:6. The whole counsel of God’s Word refutes you.

You are never gunna to attain to the example of Jesus Christ therefore you are in failure, you are doomed to fail.

Jesus has not come to be our example

He has come to be US, us in our sin that He might pay the full penalty for our sins, He's paid it, the penalty was death, He died and since He did it before you were born He must have borne it 100% otherwise you could not have been saved at all.

Now HE has become our righteousness. We could not possibly be more secure.

I don't think nice people associate Christians to Adolf Hitler, tho I wouldn't want to label him marked for Good on my part, in sure Jesus would mark him for that,

I do know of a verse where Jesus issues a very grave warning to those who treat his children that way,

I have brought it to his attention as an offended brother, and it has been witnessed, under the guidelines of the way Jesus tells us too.

Under normal circumstances a nice person or a follower of Christ should set the record straight, and the bible indicates for a follower of Christ this would be a done deal

He failed miserably.

Ah you don't understand, you are clueless. Why not include the whole church of Galatia? they were bewitched, they gave heed to messengers of Satan, they were clean fallen away from grace. Christ was of no avail to them.

They were not damned for heaven's sake. Nowhere does Paul warn them of hellfire and brimstone, if there was the smallest possibility that they could be damned and Paul failed to warn them he would be guilty of failing in his responsibility as apostle.

To fall from grace is not damnation. It is falling away from the blessings of of being saved so far as this present life is concerned.

You talk about overthrowing people's faith that's what YOU are trying to do, trying to shipwreck folks.

That list of people is such a mixed bag of some who are saved and some who were not. To take just one King Saul, he fell just about as far as is possible, was he damned? no he was not. The day before he died the prophet Samuel appeared to him and told him "this time tomorrow you will be with me where I am" Read David's eulogy for Saul.

And Paul did not damn the younger widows, he simply said they ought not to be on the list of beneficiaries.

It's YOU who have been moved away from your hope, You have not held fast to your first confession.

Ah you don't understand, you are clueless. Why not include the whole church of Galatia? they were bewitched, they gave heed to messengers of Satan, they were clean fallen away from grace. Christ was of no avail to them.

They were not damned for heaven's sake. Nowhere does Paul warn them of hellfire and brimstone, if there was the smallest possibility that they could be damned and Paul failed to warn them he would be guilty of failing in his responsibility as apostle.

To fall from grace is not damnation. It is falling away from the blessings of of being saved so far as this present life is concerned.

You talk about overthrowing people's faith that's what YOU are trying to do, trying to shipwreck folks.

That list of people is such a mixed bag of some who are saved and some who were not. To take just one King Saul, he fell just about as far as is possible, was he damned? no he was not. The day before he died the prophet Samuel appeared to him and told him "this time tomorrow you will be with me where I am" Read David's eulogy for Saul.

And Paul did not damn the younger widows, he simply said they ought not to be on the list of beneficiaries.
