Sorry to throw a wrench into the convo, but... . Perhaps I'm just a bit old school (or maybe I've been around the block a time or two), but I have a strong distaste for this whole "family of God" lingo. I know Walter probably means no harm by it, but the old addage is true: "The devil is in the details."
As much as I disagree with Nehemiah on some very pertinent issues, his objection in Post #4 does (vaguely) underscore just why I have such disdain for it. Such language was highly popularized by the WCG ("the World Wide Church of God"), the RCG ("the Restored Church of God"), UCG ("United Church of God") — all of which are non-trinitarian assemblies. They are binitarian, and do not believe the Holy Spirit is a distinct person. Therefore, although John 17 does not reference the Holy Spirit, I do think Nehemiah's critique is entirely fitting (though, maybe not for the exact reason stipulated in his post).
Again, I'm prone to think that this could have been a rather innocent gaffe. But then again, with this bit of knowledge in the background, and you see the title, "The Father And The Son Is The Family Of GOD," you have to give pause and give it second thought.
