Then you believe this promise is yours:
“Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”
Matthew 26:34 NIV

Your skirt is showing, you have shown your immaturity toward follow believers that do not belive as you do. Just to let you know you twist the Scpritures, Jesus said that directly to Peter it is a historical account of what Jesus said to Peter.

Let me ask you a question, what does the rooster crow mean?

I believe also a pseudo spirituality manifests itself when certain ones over emphasize a 'personal relationship with Christ' almost to the exclusion of Scripture (at least Scripture in it's context) this also leads to self proclaimed 'prophets'.
I'm not saying a personal relationship is not Scriptural, but when it forgets to bring the Scriptures with it, it becomes dangerously a fount of heresy.
It makes the whole thing subjective, and one cannot touch ones subjectivity without paying the "don't you judge" retort. Enduring sound doctrine appears to be at an all time low...

To those Charismatics who tell me not to judge their messages that are supposed to be from the Holy Spirit, but obviously are not, I tell them the Bible tells me to judge them:
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment.

you know, you still do not understand the differences between the different groups

and people have tried multiple times help you out with that

you consistently lump everyone together...did it occur to you that you are also part of another lump of a different flavor?

That most certainly is a promise.

you sound just like someone saying God told me to tell you

in other words, the authority you think you have, comes from yourself

it is not a promise...Jesus foretold what would happen

but believe what you want while the rest of us watch you hit the wall

whatever

How about if you try addressing my opening post to this thread on that. Maybe you can enlighten me.

Maybe the dictionary can help you better understand this subject:

prom·ise
ˈpräməs/
noun
  1. 1.
a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at your inability to comprehend such a simple thing

Jesus was not promising Peter anything. He foretold what Peter would do

having conversed enough with you in times past, I can foretell what you will do and I am not prophetic

you will continue stubbornly on and insist you are right. I can easily identify the trouble here

you refuse to listen but everyone should listen to you

enjoy your one way conversation :giggle:

I'm glad to hear that you are so much more mature than I am. That remark really added substance to our discussion. Maybe next you can tell us how you are so much more spiritual than me.

Jesus was promising that Peter will deny Him that night. You can run away now and let us have a serious discussion.

Matthew 26:34 NIV

You claimed EVERY promise of God in His written Word belongs to you but now you are singing a different tune.
Looks more like a prophecy than a promise to me.

A promise is something God will do.

Jesus was prophesying something Peter would do.

You might want to rethink your position on this one.

The one making the promise is the one who fulfills the promise.

In the case of Jesus telling Peter what Peter would do was not a promise, but a prediction.

You again show your immaturity by avoiding the question, you love pointing fingers, but you forget that 3 are pointing back at you. Answer the question is the rooster crow literal or not?

One more thing, about your Scripture twisting. Paul is not speaking about spiritual gifts in chapter 4 he is talking about those false apostles that were teaching that the kingdom was at that time. Look at how Paul starts chapter 12 "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed." Here is what Peter says about people that do this II Peter 3:15-16 "And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures."

Yes, he is. The whole argument up to that point is the Corinthians arrogance because they have spiritual gifts:
I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus. Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
