EPH 4:1-3 – “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
“As a prisoner for the Lord, then,” - Paul also referred to being “in chains” in Phil. 1: 17 and Col. 4:3
“I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received” – which calling is to be holy so God will be praised (cf. 1:4 & 12)
“Be completely humble and gentle” – these examples of a worthy witness are found also in Col. 3:12 (cf. Phil. 2:3) and imply having concern for the welfare of others
“be patient, bearing with one another in love” – love and patience as well as gentleness and kindness are fruit of the Spirit (per Gal. 5:22-23), and God’s love is defined as patience (in 2Pet. 3:9) and kindness (in Rom. 2:4)
“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit” – This is what Jesus prayed for (in John 17:20-23) and what Paul urged also along with bearing with each other in Col. 3:13-14 (cf. Rom. 15:5)
“through the bond of peace” – peace is an expression of love urged also in Col. 3:15, 2Cor. 13:11, requiring effort also in Rom. 14:19

Eph 4:2With all lowliness ( μετὰ πάσης ταπεινοφροσύνης ) and meekness (καὶ πρᾳότητος), with longsuffering ( μετὰ μακροθυμίας ), having again ( ἀνεχόμενοι ) of one another ( ἀλλήλων ) in love ( ἐν ἀγάπῃ );
Eph 4:3 Causing hastening ( σπουδάζοντες ) to keep ( τηρεῖν , present infinitive ) the unity ( τὴν ἑνότητα ) of the Spirit ( τοῦ πνεύματος ) in the bond ( ἐν τῷ συνδέσμῳ ) of the peace ( τῆς εἰρήνης )
Eph 4:4There is one body ( ἓν σῶμα ), and one Spirit (καὶ ἓν πνεῦμα ), just as ( καθὼς ) also ( καὶ ) you were called at some point ( ἐκλήθητε , aorist passive indicative ) in one hope ( ἐν μιᾷ ἐλπίδι ) of the calling ( τῆς κλήσεως ) of you ( ὑμῶν )
Eph 4:5One Lord ( εἷς κύριος ), one faith ( μία πίστις ), one baptism (ἓν βάπτισμα ),
Eph 4:6 One God ( εἷς θεὸς ) and Father ( καὶ πατὴρ ) of all of you ( πάντων ), the one above you all ( ὁ ἐπὶ πάντων ), and through you all ( καὶ διὰ πάντων ), and in all you ( καὶ ἐν πᾶσιν ὑμῖν ).
My own paraphrase of the sense of the Greek text
1 Therefore I , the prisoner in union with what characterises the Lord, am calling you to my aid, that you walk worthily of the calling to which you were called, reconciling with one another in love 2 with all humble-mindedness and judiciously exercised power and persevering passion, 3 stepping in quickly to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bind of the peace God gives us. 4 There is one body you all belong to, and one Spirit you all partake of, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling to inherit all with Christ, 5 There is one human Lord , one faith in that Lord, you all took one baptism into the same Lord. 6 There is one God and Father of you all, who is above you all, and through you all and in you all.
1. "Therefore I , the prisoner in union with what characterises the Lord" - The anarthrous "lord" indicates that Paul has in mind not the Lord Himself, but those things that characterise the Lord: His mission and His message and His behaviour, which Paul is in prison for practising.
2. "I am calling you to my aid, " - ParakaleO is the root of paraklEtos, paraclete, one who is summoned to someone's side to assist them. Paul may be summoning the Ephesians for their help in his present imprisonment. Paul is not able to be summoned to their side to help them practise unity, so he may be requesting that attitudinally they take up a position by his side to help him bring more unity into the Ephesian church by them taking the initiative to put the teaching in this letter into practise, even during his absence from them.
3. "that you walk worthily of the calling to which you were called" - \This calling Paul has described in the preceding paragraphs of His letter.
1:4 "that we should be holy and without blame before him in love."
1:5 "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself".
1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace".
1:10-11 "That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance".
1:12 "That we should be to the praise of his glory".
1:18-19 "that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power."
2:6-7 "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
2:13 " But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ."
2:19-22 "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
3:6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God
3:16-19 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
