It's interesting that most of the "dissenters"
have posted between 5,000 to 18,000+ posts.
It would seem, (from reading some of their hate-filled rantings to other people) that they have nothing to do but spend their day thinking of ways to be sarcastic and hateful to others.
That's really too bad, when a few of them might actually have something constructive to say .. something that might help someone else.
If people are THAT consumed with hatred, perhaps "THEY SHOULD GET A LIFE???"
Read other people's post??? Ya gotta be kidding!!! From what I've read already ... much of what's written is either "hate-filled" or incredibly destructive. There''s "no way" that I'm going to fill my spirit with such evil.
I cannot imagine Jesus acting like they act. Obviously, they know nothing about God (who IS LOVE).
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some." (2 Timothy 2-15-18)
Hummmm... "But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto ... MORE ungodliness."
It would be difficult to be "MORE unGodly"than some of the posts that the dissenters constantly post.
"And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus." Read some of the sarcastic, hate-filled, post in this one thread ... and you can substitute a few names in the place "Hymenaeus and Philetus",
After reviewing their posts on this and other threads, ask yourself ... do I really want to ingest words that "eat as a canker"??? Maybe the best solution would be .. NEVER read another of their un-Christlike posts.
"A good thing to remember,
A better thing to do,
Be on the construction gang,
And NOT the wrecking crew."
Jesus, Himself, said, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (John 13:34-35)
From the hate-filled posts of some, one would deduce that they are not remotely interested in obeying Jesus, and certainly not interested in "walking in love".
"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46)
According to Jesus, HE is not Lord ... to those who disobey His commands.

Perhaps you can't read???
Some people are educated beyond their intelligence. Be careful ... your true colors are showing ... and it's not the "love of God".

So, these 2 posts are the evidence of your love? Paranoia, perhaps! I was thinking you were Meggido returning for a third round, but he was not so insistent that the Acts 2 is the only chapter in the Bible that matters OR that every verse in the Bible is about tongues. I admit, that is a new one for me!
So, how did you know I was “educated” when I never said a thing about it, in this thread? Really sounds like a returning, probably banned person!
As for having almost 10,000 posts, they do build up after 7 years, especially when for parts of that time, I have been disabled and bed ridden. Nor do you know how many are posts encouraging people in the Family Forum, adding jokes in the Misc, responding to prayers in the Prayer Forum, or in the discussions in the women’s forum.
I do have a bit of a life, being active in my church teaching, preaching and on a worship team. So, you don’t have to worry about that!
As for my comment about being a lonely old man, I must have hit a real nerve, which was not my intent. I do a lot of counselling, and your overly authoritarian OP and subsequent posts suggested someone who has driven away a lot of people in his life. Your so called “loving” response also confirmed that. But, my purpose was just to suggest that you are always welcome to come and post, make friends, but, just learn a bit of forum etiquette. Not meant as an insult at all. In fact, I am sure there are many lonely people on CC, and it is great thing that they have found CC. People here really are good friends, even when we have never met them.
Romans 8:28 was one of the first verses God ever gave me as a life verse. Since then, I have studied it, lived it and read commentaries, and translated it from Greek and exegeted it in many ways. In Greek we did a comparison of different English translations, and how they are rightly (or wrongly) translated. No where, by any stretch of the imagination, does it have anything to do with tongues, (even some people who speak in tongues pointed out it does not!). It really isn’t about prayer either! Although prayer is essential and a sign we are walking with God. And we must love God.
What is Romans 8:28 about to me? It is that no matter what happens in our lives, as believers in a sovereign God, we can trust that God will work things out for good, in this life and in the next.
For me, Jesus is the center of the Bible. The pentecostal/charismatic churches I attended made it about themselves, and how they could use the Holy Spirit for their own wants and needs. No! We are servants to the master. We need to walk with God and let the Holy Spirit guide us. That means studying the Bible, listening for the “small still voice” of God and obeying that voice!
Welcome back to CC, whoever you are!
