There is no confirmation as a sign but rather we walk by faith the unseen understanding.. The sign of tongues according to the law in 1 Corinthians 14:21 22 are against those who refuse to believe in a God not seen who works through the book revelation, the book of prophecy . Why violate the warning not to add or subtract from the perfect? Why take a chance in going above that which is written in order to widen the authority of God's Holy word .How would a person know if God has sent them a strong delusion if any thing goes just believe..

It contradicts what you say. If we are considered as sheep meant for slaughter, we can't also be among the sheep meant to escape the knife through laying of hands and healings and many miracles.

So, we know He granted powers to heal and do many miracles to the Apostles and the 1st century church only so that the gospel may be preached, after that, precious in His eyes is the death of His beloved and he says it must be so because they are saved from evil through death.

The word whoever means whomever or whosoever, not a body of million people.

The greater works were the quantity not the power. There is no greater work that hearing the gospel and believing a God not seen .

Peter preached one sermon and 3000 the greater number entered the kingdom of God.

Jesus said several times, "...if you don't believe me, at least believe the works themselves.."
This simply means that if they didn't believe His words, they should believe His deeds thereby creating the distinction between His words and deeds (works). So hearing the gospel would be categorized as the words only and not the works, but the promise was for the works and not the words.
