I think some Americans have broken taste buds. I saw a few videos on YouTube, of Americans trying Australian foods for the first time. They disliked most of the foods (rude). Some examples were Shapes, Vegemite (granted they tried to eat a tablespoon of it - stupid!) and Milo. Milo was an especially strange one. A few people said it tasted like dog food! Sure, they may not enjoy the taste, but it doesn't taste anything like dog food, it's a chocolate malt drink.

Marian, you should totally check out this little eBook. Non-Christians deride Jonah as fiction and even many Christians believe it is nothing more than truthful myth. But there's evidence for it being historically true, not just spiritually. I've read the book, it's very good.

Broken taste buds LOL

I know American's eat beef jerky and I always wondered about the taste until somebody told me that the taste is bland if you compare it to biltong we make in SA (South Africa Tintin!). I know that overseas people are always pleasantly surprised when they taste our biltong and dry wors.

The other thing I always wondered about is why American's named flapjacks, pancakes. People pancakes are pancakes and flapjacks are flapjacks :p

Ooooo and do you know koeksisters....? Grrrr if you don't get the recipe of the net and try it! I sincerely believe it will become a household favourite...

They look like something my husband would like because he likes those krueller doughnuts (if I spelled that right?)

Do you know a decent recipe thats converted for those? I will make them for him this upcoming weekend and let you know how he liked them. He is on a diet but he gets a cheat day on this diet and these would be perfect.

Im bad at math, I need a decent recipe and then converted into American U.S measurements

But your a man, you dont cook these your wife does that Im guessing lol

I normally like the not so crispy baked ones because they soak up the syrup better and it always have a nice taste to them (personal preference) :)

and if you are into tarts try Milk tart, also a South African favourite :eek:

That works even better, I would rather stay away from fried foods

You can just bake them and not fry them then?

Now I have to check that recipe lol and look for a baking one if need be

I wish you were a woman you could probably help me a bt more here lol

Oops :eek: I think this is a Freudian slip because in Afrikaans bake could be fried as well... no no no they should be fried :)
