Our flesh were made to rest. We can't be awake all of the time :) but we can pray for Abba's protection over us because He does not rest. God is good my friend :)
I see double meaning in this "flesh being meant to rest."

For it is not works of the flesh that gain salvation ;):D

If you think about it, this verse tells us that when we die we will be living together with Him, therefore no such thing as soul sleep because when our body is sleeping we will be living together with Him.
Many verses speak of sleep, being asleep in Christ, rising from sleep to live again. To sleep is not to be dead, after all ;)

I was talking about bodily sleep. I find the verse very comforting for my chronic insomnia. P.S. Can't say I believe in some coma state after death either :

SW,
hub and I are so sorry that you are not able to sleep well, as we know that this can effect your whole daily life,
and one's performance/behavior...
I personally have had this affect my life, because of pain and discomfort - but, after many years of trials and errors
with prescription 'drugs' and intense, nutritional therapy, I, we, have found our individual recipes for 'SLEEP'!!!
just this one share concerning HUB, He cannot sleep well IF he partakes of SALTY after Noon...
for myself, this doesn't bother me, BUT I cannot partake of 'sweets' or caffeine' after about (9:00am), it totally
speeds up my heart and puts my nerves on edge... our Lord has been guiding us in this direction, and in every
other aspect of our journey thus far...

ECC. 9:5.
For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward;
for the memory of them is forgotten.
PS. 115:17.
The dead praise not The LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
PS. 6:5.
For in death there is no remembrance of You: in the grave who shall give You thanks?
11PETER 3:4.
And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue
as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Prayers for the both of you, and SoulWeaver, and all my friends here on CC who are growing older and suffering in one way or another. I can surely relate to you all.

What I do know this that my faith in God AND the fellowship, prayers and support I get from my friends here have and continue to give me the strength to continue on this pathway God has placed me on.

My wife recently went to a scio practitioner and we were surprised by what this machine could do. I don't know how "real" this machine is but what the it red in my wife and healed was very interesting. I don't know if it could assist you with insomnia but I would give it a go if I were you :)

(someone once said)

God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found all corners of the world. Then He made the world round and laughed and laughed!
