Do we realize that when we choose to live for the weekend, we are choosing to live for 104 days out of the 365 days in a year?

So. Really we're much younger than we seem? ;)

Is this the animated one, Tintin? If so, yes this was a great film. I remember there was another one. Ah it was Joseph, King of Dreams. It was good too.
Hi sister. Yes, Prince of Egypt is the animated Dreamworks movie. I've never actually seen Joseph, King of Dreams, but I've heard from others that it's quite good. Thanks. I'll have to check it out sometime. :)

No...I am saying that if we choose to live 5 days a week just waiting for the weekend. We miss 5 days of joy. Joy is an internal job.

According to Worldometers - real time world statistics 155,745 deaths today (may or may not be exact, but close). If a third of that number were Christian, then 2/3s (103,830 - may or may not be exact, but close) of that went to hell today. :( Let's continue to pray for the lost that the veil covering their eyes be lifted off and that the devil cannot steal the seed planted in their hearts. I just read about Oregon shooting too :(. Let's pray for the church to be more effective. Let's pray for ourselves, to be usable for God's kingdom. It only takes a minute. Maybe two, actually maybe more.

FRANK, I was just praying for you with others by radio, and upon including you, the Lord was leading the prayer to move to All the family of God, and then expanded to our family members who have yet to even acknowledge a need for salvation, forgiveness and Jesus. Sometimes, Frank, I feel helpless and just want to pray the Tiny Tim prayer 'God bless us, everyone', there are so many bases that need to be covered, but I pray particularly at this time, if it be God's will...Father in heaven, thank once again for your grace and patience, and this time to come before your throne of grace in behalf of Frank, all and only because of Jesus, so thank you so much, Lord. Please bless Frank with the comfort of your Holy Spirit. We do continue to ask for a miracle of your healing touch, Lord, moreover we ask for your abiding presence, and the grace to bear through these trials. Help us, Lord to find the ways to bring you glory in the midst of affliction, rejoicing even, in the midst of struggle, because You, our God, are with us. Please hold Frank and his family close, Lord, you know all the struggles and tears that have come their way of late, and they truly need your comfort. Help me, Lord, to share in the fact that as brothers and sisters in Christ, we DO share in each others joys and sorrows, for when one member suffers, all the body does as well. With that I also pray for each and everyone here, EV ER Y ONE, Lord, You know each one of us individually, and you know our needs and desires. I pray for your Word of grace and love to be fulfilled in each of us, as we set aside those things that would hinder our walk with you. Forgive me, Father, for the role I play in putting up obstacles to receiving your love, both intentional and unintentional, or doing anything that would cause others to doubt your goodness and mercy. Please, Lord, help us as we go forward this day, to be the sons and daughters of your grace and love that you intend us to be, and forgive in those times we fall short. Help us to go with a song and a prayer in our heart to you, Jesus, our God, our Saviour, and our friend, and it's in your name we always pray, amen.
Amen. I just want to thank you, Syd, you pray so beautifully, revealing a humble heart before God, and often express things I feel in my heart but feel inadequate to express... Thank you not only for your prayers for our dear brother Frank, but your continued prayers for all of us here at CC. We all need all the help we can get, and to that end I pray for you also, that you may find peace in your soul and a steadfast abiding comfort in your love of God and those that have come to care for you.

Good afternoon everyone.
I'm not doing to good, so,
I'm asking for prayer.
Thank you, Frank
Just adding a little to Syd's prayer above, Frank, praying for you and your family, your wife's family, and your brother's family, especially your niece and nephew who suddenly lost their mother, and for an end of the investigation by capturing the guy who murdered your sister in law. Also praying for April, and thanking God that you are able to be such a blessing in her and her parent's lives.

I have good news!

Turns out the lump that was on my cat that I've explained earlier this week is NOT a mammary tumor. It was a cyst and some fluid had to be drained out. Josie (the cat's name) is going to have to take some medicine and then get reexamined in a few weeks to see if all is well from there. Nothing cancerous has been found.

Yes, it put my school in a state of shock. The scary part is my campus is open and we were never told of a safe place in case of an emergency in our required class on our first term. Plus on my first term we had a threat of a shooting so we had police on campus the entire day.
We don't know when our time has come to be with Jesus and we need to keep doing what God has instructed us to do until that time has come without a fear of something bad happening

We have a similar issue. Minimal security and anyone could really come in with anything. The only thing we have to show once we do go in is our school IDs. It's scary as to how close to home the UCC situation actually is for me.

See we don't even do that as of now, granted things may change. I am considered staff member because I work on campus and so I am required to wear a security badge. Let's just say my drivers license pic is much better. Lol

I have the worst pictures taken. Ever. My ID is proof and I try not to show so much of it as I possibly can. :p

Last night, I watched Exodus: Gods and Kings. I'm not going to be kind.

In the beginning Ridley Scott created Exodus and it was bad. Really bad. My suspicions were confirmed when within the first minute, the movie got basic details wrong: the time scale (the general consensus is that the Exodus happened around 1440BC, not in 1300BC, as the movie stated). Also, the Israelites were slaves in Egypt for 215 years, not 400 years.

I'm not sure how Ridley Scott buggered up so badly, but I guess we'd be expecting too much if this weren't another Prometheus (admittedly that movie is rather average, but still not this terrible). What I want to know, is who throws millions upon millions of dollars at directors and then only offers them half-ar$ed scripts? It's happened all too often!

Exodus: Gods and Kings is the story of Moses from his time as a general (um?) to his crossing of the Red Sea. This movie features spectacular visuals and an impressive scope, but this is largely for naught since the script is so dull and lifeless. It has no heart. The main actors/actresses are severely miscast e.g. Christian Bale as Moses is normally a great actor, but here he looks bored out of his skull and Joel Edgerton as Ramses is just silly. Several supporting actors/actresses are both miscast and underused e.g. Sigourney Weaver and Aaron Paul (of Breaking Bad fame). The rest of the cast do a good to great job. But it's rather infuriating to see most of the cast confused to find themselves in a biblical epic. Honestly, the viewer has no reason to care about anyone in this movie. So why bother?

Now let's talk about the main event - God. He's barely in the freaking movie! Well, he's there as some snooty-nosed kid for a few scenes, but there's nothing holy or loving about Him. Ridley Scott has somehow removed everything exciting about the story of Moses and tried to make a movie with it. There's almost no semblance of the supernatural to be found anywhere. The famous court scenes between Moses and Pharaoh and later, the magicians - not there. The Ten Plagues of Egypt - present and one of the better scenes in the movie, but caused by presumably naturalistic means (funnily enough, the crocodile scene in the Nile is one of the highlights). God doesn't appear to the Israelites as a column of fire or a pillar of smoke. The Israelites don't even cross through the middle of the Red Sea with walls of water either side. And Moses conversing with God on Mount Sinai is covered in several seconds. Bah!

For all of its pomp and ceremony, Exodus: Gods and Kings is dead in the water (pun intended). The title suggests a supernatural showdown between the gods of ancient Egypt and the true God of Israel, but we don't get that. We get two bratty kids brawling in a huge wonderland theme park. Shame on you, Mr Scott. Shame on you! You're not getting off scott-free with this one.

A visually impressive steaming pile of crap. Avoid this movie and check out Darren Aronofsky's Noah. It's subversive, but (mostly) brilliant. If you want the story of Moses, watch the excellent Prince of Egypt. Or better yet, read the Bible.

5/10
430 years

In Genesis 15:13 God told Abram that his descendants would be slaves in a foreign land for 400 years. This number is also mentioned in Acts 7:6. Exodus 12:41 says that the Israelites were in Egypt for 430 years. This number also appears in Galatians 3:17.Oct 9, 2013

[h=3]How long were the Children of Israel enslaved in Egypt?[/h]Just a little search I did as I was thinking I remembered them being slaves for at least 400 years.
