"Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
- Isaiah 42:1
The Father is speaking here. “My Servant” = the Messiah. ”My Spirit = the Holy Spirit.
“
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. …
he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not fail nor be discouraged,
till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.”
Isaiah 42:1, 3-4 KJV
“Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that
Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, and
the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him,
and a voice came from heaven, which said,
Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
Luke 3:21-22 KJV
“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and
a Branch shall grow out of his roots: and
the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD:
and
he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and
with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And
righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.”
Isaiah 11:1-5 KJV
“
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. ( Jesus baptism )
Ask of me, and
I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. ( the hier ) Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. ….
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, When his wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”
Psalm 2:6-9, 12 KJV
“
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me
to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,
to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”
Isaiah 61:1-3 KJV
“
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and
his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from
henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.”
Isaiah 9:6-8 KJV
Just between Isaiah and the psalms theres much of the gospel laid out in prophecy
“
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
All they that see me laugh me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: Let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
I was cast upon thee from the womb: Thou art my God from my mother's belly. Be not far from me; for trouble is near; For there is none to help. My strength is dried up like a potsherd;
And my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; And thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
For dogs have compassed me:
The assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: They pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones:
They look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them, And cast lots upon my vesture. But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
Deliver my soul from the sword; My darling from the power of the dog.
I will declare thy name unto my brethren: In the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
…I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
The meek shall eat and be satisfied: They shall praise the LORD that seek him: Your heart shall live for ever. All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: And
all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. For the kingdom is the LORD's: And he is the governor among the nations.”
Psalm 22:1, 7-8, 10-11, 15-20, 22-23, 25-28 KJV
