I try my very best to be..

Good intentions aren't good enough. In order to escape the wrath of God for
lying, your honesty would have to be consistent. (Rom 2:6-7)

FAQ: How many lies must one tell in order to be branded a liar?

REPLY: How many people must we slay in order to be branded a murderer?
How many items must we steal in order to be branded a thief? How many
rules of chess must we break in order to be branded a cheat? How many
spouses must we sleep with in order to be branded an adulterer?

So - my statement
I try my very best to be...
brings to mind for you
incorrigible folks born to lie
for whom dishonesty is normal, natural, and consistent
?

We all know what
that which is the very core of one's being
can/will easily lead to - and, the extent of it if unchecked; however, with the help of the Holy Spirit, 'consistent' honesty can be a reality.

(Otherwise, what is being referred to in verse 7 could never be a reality.)

In my life - where I come from and the way I was raised - 'honesty' is the rule and not the exception.

My 'honesty' is more 'consistent' than the absolute majority.

However, I know that it is not of myself - but rather, God - that such a thing is - or even can be - possible.

In answer to the first quote above - don't forget about Grace - only by which may one find themselves [to be] in the group referred to in verse 7.

And, if you are wanting to somehow turn those verses into some kind of works salvation - you are misinterpreting the context of those verses.

Also, those verses are not specifically referring to 'honesty' in particular; however, 'honesty' is part of that which is the basis for what it is saying.

FAQ: How many lies must one tell in order to be branded a liar?

Have you ever - even once - told a lie? Does that make you a consistent liar? Does that make you consistently dishonest?

Your point here is well made; however, you are mixing it with your main point (so it seems) about 'consistent' dishonesty.

What are you wanting to talk about - the sin nature of man in general or the pure evil of 'certain' men done continuously?

Right To Lie

Wrong to lie, actually.
I'd appreciate it if you'd wear a mask when you shout like that so the
good folks hereabouts don't get sprayed with your spittle.
You need to "chill out" and realize that other people sometimes write posts that are intended to inject a bit of humor into the thread.

While the intent of my post did in fact include a serious statement about how I try to live, it was also partially for the sake of humor.

I believe oyster's post was strictly intended as humor.

Rev 22:15 . . Outside are . . . everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Rev 21:8 . . All liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and
brimstone, which is the second death.

Here's an interesting exercise.

The death rate in the USA from all causes is something like one every twelve
seconds; which translates to 7,200 dead every 24 hours.

According to 2009 US Census data; roughly 27.3% of America's daily deaths
were under the age of 19, which suggests that approximately 5,234 deaths
in the last 24 hours were adults.

Jesus said the majority hasn't been making it to safety. So if we arbitrarily
assign the majority a 51% share of the deaths; that would indicate 2,670
American adults were transferred to the fiery regions in the last 24 hours.

NOTE: Exactly how many of those dead were liars I don't know, but it's my
guess that none of them were 100% honest.

Using those figures, the annual transfer amounts to something like 974,550.
How will the great white throne event depicted at Rev 20:11-15 ever get
around to judging all those people?

Well; According to Daniel 7:13-14, John 5:22-3, and Acts 17:31, Messiah
has been designated to preside at the event. However, there's reason to
suggest that he won't be handling every case himself.

1Cor 6:2-3 . . Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if
the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest
law courts? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? (cf. Matt 12:28)

Although the old testament's high priest was never off duty, the under
priests served in rotation. It's possible that Messiah's followers will serve as
judges with him in the same manner, which will expedite his case load
considerably: and as far as getting them all done; well, he has plenty of
time.

It was not my intention to affect this kind of reaction in you. I was simply cutting and pasting the title of the thread and it was bolded because it was the title of the thread.

I am so sorry that you found it offensive. I hope this explanation helps.

I believe that it is generally held that this applies [only] to the Millennial Reign of Christ.

The GWTJ is "all His" - after all - as you have said - he has plenty of time...

FAQ: Was Jesus 100% honest?

REPLY: Yes.

FAQ: How can you be so sure?

REPLY: According to Luke 1:35, John 1:14, John 1:18, John 3:16, John
3:18, and 1John 4:9 Jesus was God's offspring; in point of fact, God's sole
offspring. Well according to 1John 3:9, God's progeny cannot sin because
the progeny was born with the nature of God.

According to Titus 1:2, God cannot lie. Well; then if God cannot lie, then
neither can His progeny because when God reproduced, He produced more
of Himself just like when meerkats and/or cheetahs reproduce, they produce
more of themselves, i.e. their offspring come out as the very same kind of
life as the parents.

FAQ: But Jesus was not only God's offspring he was a woman's offspring too.
How then did he not lie?

REPLY: The power of divine life is many times stronger than the power of
human life.

FAQ: Aren't born-again Christians God's progeny too?

REPLY: Born-again Christians are God's handiwork, i.e. creations. (Eph 2:10)

Romans 3 says let God be true, but every man a liar. So that includes you, In order to escape the wrath of God for
lying, you need something that can take away your sin, and that's not something you can do, So basically you fail your own standard, and being consistent isn't what saves, the verse says

Romans 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

So as Jesus is the truth you obey Jesus, and as Jesus is the truth there is no lie in him, as for you Romans 3:4, and

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

you have to get here

1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Liars and truth don't really get on
