For someone to regain their rights to eat or drink with others and to “buy or sell” they had to receive absolution. This often included a ritual absolving their sentence of excommunication. This ritual typically includes things such as admission of wrong doing, making oaths, and being marked with the sign of the crucifix; or the sign of the unholy trinity 666. (As opposed to the holy trinity being 777)
