John was probably considered greatest because of his position as forerunner to Christ. Even he doubted.
John Baptist was held in high esteem by the Lord Jesus Christ

Matthew 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Luke 1:13-15 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

there are so, so many wonderful believers I want to meet and rejoice with in eternity ...

I still think it's a positional esteeming but it will be great to share in person with those we have read so much about.

Post. You put forward this thought of God being capricious, multiple times even, and then claim others have implied it? .

No. It's clear Lot is righteous. Not terribly smart in my opinion but righteous.
Lot's wife disobeyed God. Yet you claim she is this noble creature giving her life for others. I'm asking, where in the bible is disobedience to God ever a noble act?
Right here man.

It is clear that you have no idea what is actually going on here. Chronister on the other hand DOES know (as do I).
BTW....there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that BOTH Adam and Eve were saved. No doubt. Both truthfully confessed their sins BTW.

However I DO doubt that you would actually care enough to take the time to audition these lectures on the matter. Your loss, my gain buddy.

Gen 3:6
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Gen 3:12
The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

this is again based on the idea she is not a complete idiot therefore she knew turning back towards Sodom was almost. certain physical doom but did so anyway.
"Remember Lot's wife".....for her selfless act of mercy. Which has been eternal codified in the Scripture for time immemorial.
Just as Jesus has likewise done for the selfless act of Mary M.

Nice change of subject. From Lot to Adam. And Nice implication that I didn't believe that Adam and Eve weren't saved even though I do and never suggested otherwise.

Unfortunately, chatting with you is rarely edifying so I wish you the best but don't see any good coming from future chats. Grace and peace.

You don't get it man.

On the other hand (and fortunately) me and my buddy @posthuman DO "get it", and are on the fast-track to our post-Phd Bible studies certification.

Good luck. And happy landings.

Luk 9:60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
Luk 9:61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
Luk 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

I know man, I know.

It is never "edifying" when you are proven wrong, don't know something, or don't know what you are talking about.

Perfectly understandable.

6 Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

what do you mean ? Is it true he said that yes , is it true he didn’t go to the mountain no that wasn’t what I was getting at though
I believe brother post was trying to make the point that Lot was not being honest with that statement... that since the angels
had been sent by God on a "military mission" they would should or did in fact know what was possible and what was not.

so, Lot, refusing to go to the mountains as he was explicitly commanded. saying he would die, as though God was unable, as though God's plan was stupid, pleading to go instead to one of the wicked cities of the plain that was destined for destruction instead, like God had made a mistake and Lot knew better than God.....

Explain.

“so, Lot, refusing to go to the mountains as he was explicitly commanded. saying he would die, “

He didint refuse any commandment of God he was afraid he would t make it and the city was closer so he asked God because avid had already brought them out by grace he asked him in that moment of grace “ the little town is closer can you spare tbat town so I can go there instead ? And then through the angel the lord agreed with what he asked and said he would spare the City

“as though God was unable, as though God's plan was stupid, pleading to go instead to one of the wicked cities of the plain that was destined for destruction instead, like God had made a mistake and Lot knew better than God.....”

i can’t explain any of that because it’s something your inferring I’m just talking about what the Bible says happened

This doesn’t say anything like what you’ve described there there’s no saying gods plan is stupid here or lot refusing his command in rebellion so I’m not going to be able to explain that part and the rest doesn’t need anyone to explain it

“And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life;( he already is acknowledging Gods merciful plan that saved his life )

and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: ( I Cant make it I’m afraid )

behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

( lot is pleading with him to spare the closer tiny town so he can go there because it’s closer and he thinks he can make it safely and God accepts his plea and saves the town and he goes there instead at the direction of the angel

And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; and he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19:17-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What I was getting at is that she was also spared initially by grace with lot and his daughters but she broke The warning that said “ don’t stay here or look back or you’ll share in its destruction “ she looked back and was the only one who never survived

so she must have actually been condemned through not heeding the warning what I was saying is this did condemn her

“And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

She did what he said not to do or else she would share in its destruction lot and his daughters didn’t theybhesded for the town they we’re told to go to

His wife actually seems to be condemned was the point

yeah lot was scared and saw a slower town he wasn’t rebelling against God though

they told him this

“And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

( he saw a fer away mountain and was afraid “ I can’t make it lord let me go to this closer town I plead )

behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: ( he’s saying from fear I can’t make it that far to the angel and so )

behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

( lot is protesting for a closer escape route because he’s afraid God is understanding if his people look how surely and faithfully he responds without any rebuke of any kind )

Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19:17, 19-

as soon as lot gets real and says “ lord I can’t make that please let me go here to this close place instead , he replies in the affirmative yes I agree that’s fine go there so I can do what I need to do “

i don’t think lots fear affected anything at all he expresses his own inability to make it there and pleads for a closer safe ground is all I see there but it’s only my own way of seeing it

this is a consistent part of Gods character if someone intercedes often he will meet them at thier rewuest like he often did through Moses with the children of Israel

hers was not just a simple curiosity concerning the destruction of Sodom.I think that she was longing for her old way of life. However, she did disobey God by looking back. Gog had severe ways of dealing with people in the Old Testament days. "God is good, all the time" wasnt a theme they oft quoted in that time........
