It IS essential to believe Jesus is God. Here is one of THE passages that succinctly present THE GOSPEL. Lord here is representative of God.

Romans 10:9-10
New International Version

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
I would like to know more about how Lord in this verse means God. Is it something in the Greek that differs it from when speaking of a person in authority?

Thought this might help
It would appear that this is some kind of Oneness doctrine. Please clarify since God the Father and the Holy Spirit are absent from that chart.

I can't think of any scriptures that say specifically you have to believe Jesus is God to be saved. This is one of those nonessential things that a person can chew on as they mature.
False. Please see my post #5. Indeed how can anyone say they believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work of redemption and deny that He is God? Only the God-Man could die for the sins of the whole world, and rise again.

Does a person have to believe Jesus is God to be saved? Can a person believe in Jesus as the Son of God but not as God and still be saved? I am not sure on what is the answer to these questions. Please support your position with Scripture. Thank you.
Jesus as the father is revelation you receive after you come to believe in Jesus the son of God you are safe and on the correct and only path just keep seeking and letting in the word

first we need to believe the son , later we realize the depth of who he really is sometimes at the beginning he’s someone who does for our sins , then he becomes more s we hear the gospel

If you would consider this even though I often ramble I think it will give you some comfort in your consideration and your position as of now

just before Jesus was to begin his suffering he prayed . The first part of his prayer was somewhat of a revelation as to why he had come he had accomplished the reason he came to earth as a man

“These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:1-5‬ ‭

he later adds his immediate disciples and then us the latter church to this prayer but concerning his identity me the confusion of when he was on earth and why I think you may find something here is you consider if not I think you are on the path you need to be on and are safe in the arms of Gods son who loves you immensely beyond measure

as to why i think that part is your victory

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I think first we believe in the son who came for us and later he reveals more about himself to us as we come to know him you are sooooo right in course 🙂

I’m not sure completely what you mean.
I mean that when you come to believe the gospel out Jesus the son of God as the Bible presents it

in time things like this start to sink in because you believe in the gospel of Gods son

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What I’m saying is believing that Jesus is the son of God is the gospel and salvstion . But as you hear his word more you begin to realize that the son of God is one and the same as the father

it comes by revelation as we believe in the son the father begins to show himself

Cherie...as you well know all things were given to jesus by the father. He is the all in all.
He was sent to us as the savior of the world.
He is the one sent by God. He is the Jewish expected Messiah.
Yet even jesus said if you do not believe who he is the at least believe in the works that he does.
I m o ....the closer we walk with him the revelation of who he is grows and like thomas we see the expressed image of God himself.
As long as we know that only he can forgive and redeem and was sent for that purpose and we need him
Weather we see him as God or the son is optional.

Jesus is the only Perfect one because He indeed is God. The Bible is clear there is no one righteous and sinless except for God :)

He is the author and finisher of our faith.

Only a sinless Lord can Save me.

It depends on what you mean by "Salvation." It is an OT word that applied when God's people were delivered from attacks by their enemies. "Eternal Salvation" has to do with inheriting Eternal Life. The "Saved Life" lived in the present is being Born Again.

I personally believe there will be lots of people inheriting Eternal Life who don't have the Born Again life now, and will not have it until the Kingdom comes. These are people who for one reason or another didn't receive the Gospel because they just didn't hear it sufficient to know what they want on the inside.

The focus, today, is on preaching the Gospel so that people today can have the Born Again life, and so produce fruit for God. One cannot produce fruit for God apart from the Born Again life.

We must have more than the natural life, which lives for itself, whether doing good or evil. We must have the spiritual life of Christ, which was just as true in the OT era as in the NT era.

Only today, we have, with our spiritual lives, Eternal Life, because Christ has purchased that for all those who have chosen the spiritual life and for all those who would have chosen it, had they received the Gospel sufficient for them to do so.

There are so many points here that I would have to provide Scriptures for every one. I can do that if you're interested after reading this? Romans 2 talks about those who by their conscience prove that they can live as if wanting Eternal Life simply by obeying their conscience. That is, they can be saved even if they have not yet received Eternal Life.

Those who have been Born Again can say they have already received Eternal Life, along with being able to bear good fruit for God. Those not yet saved do not yet have Eternal Life and cannot bear good fruit for God. But they can do good and prove by their conscience that they can be saved, ie receive Eternal Life, in the future.

I do believe Jesus is Lord and God. Thomas said My Lord and my God and Jesus didn’t correct him.

when a person comes into a personal relationship with Christ you will know HE is God. If one doesn't know this their understanding has not yet been open why?

1. the devil steals the revelation less they believe 2. the care of this life choke it out of them 3. hard times come and they don't believe

But God doesn't give up on them.

The presented chart includes scripture specific to whether Jesus is God. The scriptures speak in and of themselves.
