Scoffield developed the idea of a pre-millennial fulfillment of Ezekiel 38/39 in the late 18th to early 19th century when warfare was completely different. Now wars are fought with planes, missiles and drones. And none of the invading countries listed in those chapters really has the capacity to muster a large standing army. Heck Russia can't even conquer Donbas after 3 years, so there's no way it could mobilize a large army to invade a country as far away as Israel. Plus Russia's not going to do that because 15% of Israel's population speaks Russian, and Russia is very protective of their people, even in other countries.
