"Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, 'If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.' " John 8:31-32

If a person believes Christ's word they will also believe the word of His apostles, whom He taught and sent into the world with His message.

"If they kept My word, they will keep yours also." John 15:20

What I mean is that many who are Christians but are just stuck in their own doctrines is that not everyone holds to the truth because they were tuaght wrong or they grew up in a certain doctrine they may want to please God they may even consider themselves to be well versed in the word yet because they have no love in them they are Christian by title only.

To be lead to all truths requires love if one has love in their hearts then that will eventually lead them to truth and the correct doctrine but not doctrine as man has come to understand it but deeper hidden things. We speak of doctrine all the time yet with so much division and with so much hate towards each other because of this doctrine we say is truth but the other isn't to me doctrine no longer holds any meaning if it is just a word to describe a specific teaching one follows.

A true Christian will be lead by the spirit in the way they ought to go and in what to believe is truth, a true Christian desires truth more than water and will be willing to lay down everything they though they knew or understood in order to be lead to that truth.

But doctrine these days is nothing more than my truth vs your truth or this teaching vs that teaching this person vs that one that verse vs this verse slander mocking attackinh if we have truth in us then it doesn't produce these things

I have nothing against doctrine if it is in love but truth and doctrine have been so deluded that one can just pull a verse and declare themselves to be in the right it is thast easy and no argument ever gets resolved no debate ever produces good fruit and this for me at least is not good enough.

We can discuss things all day long but if it never shows the heart of Christ then it is not truth. and if one does not have the willingness to let go of their doctriens they hold so dear then are not really after the truth because in their minds they already have it but you will know them by their fruits.
Thank you for your reply ----it makes it clearer to me as to what you meant ------:)

"Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." John 17:17

Love is a big part of the truth; but it's not everything. You can't have love or truth without factoring God's word into the equation. You can't say I have Christ and His love therefore I have truth, end of story. His word (the Bible) and his teaching are also very important if one wants truth, the whole truth.
yes his word is vital and I am not trying to say to throw it out of the equation but rather from thye doctrine wars that go on here things need to change or else there is no truth in us because many do not have love in them all the slandering and attacking when we should be strenghtening each other building each other up in brotherly love helping each other with understanding

Many have understanding of God's word albeit different opinions of it but even so I am not saying to throw it out rather handle it differently

Planting seeds for the kingdom of God comes in all types of examples. To Some verbal,...some by action, we should strive to set examples in both.
As Peter pointed out actions speak louder than words. Works and faith both need to be applied.
Taking a biblical perspective on this world today and our calling serious. Being salt and light. Ambassadorship. That's just the beginning.
A Christian life is not about how many you can knock down but it's about how many can you lift up.
We are not called to ridicule but to instruct.
The bible shows us many foundational truths that run from Genesis to Revelation. I try not to apply any theological thought to a babe or even a seasoned Christian allowing the Holy Spirt to do his convicting. Leading his way.
I'm just relaying a message. Let ears that hear.
Theology can be debated...foundational truth cannot.
Sadly the love of our God and savior will not reach all hearts but the righteousness of our God will effect all people.
Jesus spoke two things when entering the kingdom to those that stand at the door.

"Well done my good and faithful servant enter in...

" depart from me.... for I never knew you"

Blain ----Not every person who calls themselves a Christian on this sight is a True Christian ---they are False Christians ----what they post will tell you that ----
I would have to agree with your assessment. There do seem to be several false converts on this site, and if such is indeed the case, then that would explain why their doctrine is so messed up. In other words, if someone has not truly been born again of the Spirit of truth, then their doctrine is bound to be erroneous.
I say -----So nasty name calling etc is not nice for True Christians to do as we are to Agape our enemies ---calling out people who are False Christians and spreading false Doctrine is something God approves of in this world as we are to uphold the truth of God's word and protect the Church from being lead astray ----
Amen.

As far as the nasty name calling is concerned, I posted this in the Limericks thread a while back.

In the Bible Discussion Forum
There's really not too much decorum
The insults do there fly
Which is the reason why
Most convos there I just ignore 'em

Can't they see it's a real crying shame
To watch people all called by his name
Go for each other's throats
As each combatant gloats
Methinks that sinful pride is to blame

Pro 13:10
Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

Of course, I am not including any possible false converts here in my description of those who are called by his name. We should expect name calling from false converts, but when true converts engage in it, then that is an indicator that their focus has shifted from Christ to themselves. Again, what or who are we here to defend? The gospel or ourselves?

Phl 1:15
Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
Phl 1:16
The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
Phl 1:17
But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

If someone is preaching Christ of contention, then pride is the issue because only by pride comes contention (Prov. 13:10).

Like Paul, we should all be set for the defense of the gospel, and not for the defense of ourselves.

There is a fine line between being contentious and truly contending for the faith. The first is a no-no, but the second ought to always be our goal.

Jde 1:3
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
Jde 1:4
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are those here who seek to push buttons
Don't endure their punishments like gluttons
Just put them on ignore
That's what that option's for
And leave them to the word of God's cuttins

God's word will always cut at people's hearts
Either revivals or riots it starts
Just tell people what's true
And let God's Spirit do
The convicting in other's inner parts

We are only called to plant and water
To help bring forth a son or a daughter
Of our great Father God
So as you here do trod
Let your words be of life and not slaughter

Way too much time and energy is dedicated here to who is a true Christian and who isn't, in my opinion. I can call anyone I want a false convert and it will mean exactly diddly. What is accomplished by this? Are others thankful that you have warned them away from a false convert? I doubt it. Does it make someone feel better about him or herself to accuse others? Does it make them feel more like a real convert? Probably. People should worry about themselves.

Of course this is entirely my own opinion.

The point is we should be spreading the kingdom and sowing seeds of life
this site is the field we are the sowers the question is what kind of seeds are we sowing?
