That is true.

But in a sense you were right because God used you to show that he is never wrong.

I do get where you are coming from.

I dint know about you but when God has used me and it's become apparent I sit back and say or think "Really God, why on earth have you used me, I don't get it"

Its his grace in us that we allow him to work out of us.

But truth is until the day I die I will always ask that question "Why use me?

Actually just a quick side note.

I was talking to a guy who read John 3:16 (a guy with a Muslim upbringing)
He said to me "Why would God love me?
Without thinking I said "Why not?

He looked at me for about 10 seconds and burst out laughing and said "Why not, I can't answer that so it must be true"

He got baptised 2 weeks later.

He goes to a different church now but comes back occassionly. When he does he seeks me out, big smile on his face, hugs me hard and says "Why not?

Truth is with God "Why not?
good point...and great story...

Wrong again :)

Readers out there need to know this. This needs to be exposed as error, otherwise people they will become entrapped in a system of works to keep salvation which on a day-to-day basis becomes a burden God never imposed on his children.

This thread has meandered in so many different directions..... but let’s get James straight within the context of all scriptures that tell us that we are saved eternally.

Which by the way is the only way to understand the Bible!

Statements such as “if you have faith, you will have works” need to be put to eternal rest as in Die!!

This is a salvation-base, and works-based response to and application of James message.

He isn’t questioning the faith or salvation of his audience because of the absence of works; rather he is questioning

the absence of works ‘given’ their faith and salvation taken at face value.

He urging them not to have dead faith...dead meaning USELESS ... while these works are not to save us or even to prove we are saved they do help with our testimony (justify) before men.

You said:

THE HEATHEN FAITH OF WORKS SALVATION.

This means that "works salvation" is a "heathen faith".

It' plain simple English.

I'm not twisting anyting around.
It's plain for all to see.

Works do not save us.
But works keep us saved. If you want to call this "works salvation", be my guest.

And I'm NOT a heathen.

I can post scripture. I don't see why.. One can just as easily look it up.. I can add to it and some who don't read wouldn't know the difference.. ..
Hmmmm.
Not everyone looks it up.
And I like to think that I'm posting for persons reading along. They definitely won't look it up.
it's good to learn from each other.

Sometimes a person sees something in a verse that maybe someone else doesn't.

I definitely would post the scripture and then comment on it, if I were you.

(just a suggestion)

exactly, so some folks here need to quit preaching his flesh was destroyed....and ours will be as well.
===================================================================

oh yes, his flesh would have been definately been 'destroyed' had he not 'REPENTED'...
we all must learn that when we do sin, we do have our 'Intercessor', Jesus Christ',
whom is sitting right beside God on the THRONE,- 'If we confess our sins',
'He is Faithful and Just to 'forgive' us our transgressions'...

it's all about our Saviour's Love and Sacrifice for us all...
this is our Saviour's JOB, this is what He DOES for US, as we have need of Him,

as it is written: 'For if, when we were 'enemies', we were reconciled to God by the death
of His Son, much more, being 'reconciled', we 'shall' be 'saved-by-His-Life'.

I judged his gospel. No one can judge a persons soul

you do that every time you declare OSAS is from hell You judge my soul and everyone who believes in OSAS.

So will you please stop..
Listen to the difference EG:

OSAS is a doctrine from hell.

Now listen to this:

Peter, why don't you give your life to God?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

in the first instance, I'm judging my opinion about OSAS.
in the second instance, by your telling Peter go give his life to God, you are ASSUMING that he hasn't and thus is lost.

There's a difference EG.

Catholic confesses a sin to get forgiveness.

People rededicate themselves in front of people to have accountability, they want to to share they have had some struggles, and wish to rededicate their lives. And they want everyone to hold them accountable..

We do this in discipleship when we have an issue, we confess it, Ask for Gods help. and accountability partner, and grow from there.

Not even close to being the same.
What?
You mean you confess your sins to everybody?

yes. This is what the catholic, or universal, Church used to do right after Jesus' resurrection and ascension.

Did I understand???
I can hardly believe it.

Hey look the hypocrite mentioning hell....actually Paul calls mixing faith with works to finish salvation the doctrine from hell....ask Cain....he pushed works and we all know where he is.....

This is not re-dedication I have witnessed or been forced to do as a kid and teenager...Re-dedication was repenting for sins and coming back to God....and promising never to do the sin or leave him again

What you are describing is christian accountability pact and not bona-fide OSAS re-dedication.
That sounds like Catholic confession....
I don't understand the difference.

Being sorry for our sins does NOT gain us salvation.. Grace through faith and belief in Jesus does.. Only 3 ingredients needed for salvation: grace, faith and belief. :)
Being sorry to God for our sins does not gain us salvation?

You do have God in a really tiny box.

But have no fear, He will not stay there...

Sadly I did too.. I feel like I wasted so much of my life..
==============================================================

EG,

this hurts my heart to hear you say such a thing...trust God, He grabbed ahold of you
just when He wanted to...'past 'sin's, wiped clean, after true 'conversion', and then
our Holy Saviour's loving heart gives us a brand new chance to walk with Him,
hands holding hands and then He teaches us about the Holy Gift of Repentance,
when we fail Him and others -
His reason for sitting on the right hand of God on the Throne - our Holy Intercessor for the rest of
our lives...can anything beat this for The Perfect 'gift of Love'?

I think you should stop picking verses out of scripture. and take them in context.

Verse three said we were not savedby works,

Paul did not contradict himself in verse 5 by saying we should maintain good works or risk losing salvation.

Both are important, Not just your highlighted part..
You refuse to use scripture...

Here it is:

3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life
.8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

The works in vs 8 are not to save us, or maintain salvation, Paul proved that in verse 5.

Paul did not contradict himself.

Not by works of righteousness...

YOU are the one who is Always saying that our righteousness is Worth nothing.
You're RIGHT.

These are the WORKS that are OBEDIENCE TO LAW.
They are Worth nothing.
verse 5

BUT we who HAVE believed in God should be careful to MAINTAIN GOOD WORKS.
These are works known as OBEDIENCE OF FAITH.
These are worthy in the eyes of God.

So now you know what the two terms mean.
Does it help you?

WE ARE TO MAINTAIN GOOD WORKS. WE WHO BELIEVE IN GOD.
and we are to be CAREFUL to do this. That sounds like a warning... as he warned many times...

Also, about the babies killed. It makes me think about when Jesus said "Unless you come like one of these little ones" make me see, that babies already have a guarantee welcome into heaven. Just pondering
Mathew 19:14

This is a very important verse.
