Is there two kinds of faith? Because scripture also says there is the gift of faith.

As far as works, I am not of the thought that the works are good deeds. Works of Holy Spirit that Jesus said we would do.

And James? Not a fan.

I can't get over the fact that Paul confronted James.

Paul received the revelation of the body of Christ. Something new and never before seen on earth. James doesn't speak of this. It's like a mixture.

But, it's just my own opinion. There are good sayings in it but I don't stake my walk on it.
JAMES was written to the JEWS and it contains the same ISSUE that they deal with to this very day....a BELIEF in GOD, but no saving faith into Christ........this is why MANY miss the point of this book.....

The demons believe in GOD <----they know he is real....just like the JEWS believe in GOD, they KNOW he is real, BUT NEITHER have saving faith and that is what JAMES addresses............

Yes there is a line of thought that this book is out of left field and does not have a place within the cannon of scripture........I have never actually pondered that view

Justifying faith- love- good works. In that order. How can you disagree with this?



One is enough. Luke 7: 47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

The first clause seems to be descriptive due to the second clause. so therefore, Jesus is describing a person who loves much as one who has been forgiven much

:) I have. But, it's not an issue I would fight to the death for.

God loves us to overflowing (more than we can handle) and we take this excess love and then in turn give that love to others.

I suspect things are slightly different.
For me love comes first. It is love that drives us to God, it is knowing we desire to resolve our
love and needs and God seems to be the source. When Jesus called the disciples it was people
who loved God. Their hearts were desiring to know Him more.

Paul though he was focused in the wrong direction loved God and wanted to see His ways work.
It is because we recognise this love, and how badly we fail that we have conviction of sin and
desire repentance. Repentance is not forced it is a reaction to seeing love in its purest form in
Christ and seeing how badly we fall short. This awareness causes us to bend and break, to fall
before the King and desire that He might raise us up.

I therefore put love first, then faith, seeing Christ is the true fulfillment of the love we desire to
see and to know, and works are this love in our hearts set free and outworking to others.
This is my testimony. What spoke to me most was Jesus's understanding, humbleness and love
for others in His daily life. What a day today to rejoice in His victory for us, over sin and death,
to rise victorious, to bring this love to our hearts that we might walk as His did and does, knowing
the Fathers will. Amen

2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing
of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing
and perfect will.

The Lord's half blood brother? The Book of James carries no less weight than any other inspired Scripture!
Agree, I think once a person understands he is responding to questions, that he has a very different style and purpose than Paul, it is very instructive and completely complementary to Paul.

Except for the fact that the bible tells us clearly to let the love of God be PERFECTED in us..........this word indicates a process of growth and maturity...........Faith, hope and LOVE are spiritual gifts, they NEED to be increased, exercised, and matured........

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

But whoever may keep His word, truly in him the love of God has been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:

"But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love

But with regards to hope and love, are they spiritual gifts?

1st Corinthians 13 deals with the gifts and NOW abides faith <--we know this is a GIFT, followed by hope and love.....it stands to reason that if the whole chapter is about GIFTS and FAITH is a gift that HOPE and LOVE are as well

Love is by its nature our response to God. It cannot be a gift because then it is not our
own. Love is innate within us, we are born with love and we love our parents unreservedly.

It is why when this love is betrayed it hurts so much. And it is why the death of our
parents strikes so hard in our hearts.

The reason love is so universal is why God speaks to us and our situation. We are built to
respond and walk in love, and so many testify to how being hurt made then cynical and
manipulative so that people could be exploited, very easily.

Yes I did. Read the bolded, included in context

Were her sins forgiven because she loved much? or did she love much because her sins were forgiven?

I hold the latter. The first phrase, "her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much" is descriptive

Otherwise, you have justification based on how much you love, which I don't think is Jesus' intent.

Why? Do you?

Of course. But he who loves not abides in death. 1 John 3:14. This is how we know justification produces love. Because he who does not love is not justified. See also Luke 7:47

And no one said we love before regenerated. You made that up and pinned it on me. Misrepresentation as usual. DC's MO.
